online guilds

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:24 am

i think it would be cool to have an online feature for the game. no multiplayer, but something like a guild that you and your friends could be in. you could go to the guild and see your friends character hanging out in the guild. then you could hire them as a companion to help out in a quest. like if i need some help fighting and my friend is an orc with an ax and heavy armor then i could hire him to help me out with the level. also if you hire the person and it costs 100 gold, then when your friend gets online again and goes into the guild they will receive 100 gold for their character helping you out. they could put a limit on how often you can hire a friend, maybe like an hour a day then they need 24 hours before you can hire them again so you would need more friends in your guild so you can have a companion all of the time. this seems possible but it could be more complicated then i think to pull this off. what do you think?

What you just suggested is multiplayer. No multiplayer is confirmed.

If they did this, then they might as well just do multiplayer. It's practically the same thing, and it would just make everyone complain that it wasn't multiplayer.

Let's just stick with single-player for now. (And forever!)

Sounds like a good idea to me. Personally, I'd love it if I could hop in my friends game or vice versa. Of course, those who like to play by themselves should be able to turn a multiplayer option off.

You can't fix everything by making them options.

With all the options being suggested in these threads, it will take a player half an hour just to get the game set up with them.

ok maybe a bad idea. you wouldnt need an option for this though. if you dont have xbox live then obviously you wouldnt be able to use it. and if you dont want to use it and you do have live then you could just not use it you wouldnt need to turn an option off haha

What do you mean obviously. The PC will probably be using Steam, and the PS3 uses the Sony network. So why would that feature be an Xbox exclusive if it was included? Which it won't because multi-player isn't going to be in the game. And yes, what you're proposing is a form of multi-player.

xbox for example* if you dont have psn you obviously wont use it either. if you have a pc you can always be online. but for those players with xbox and ps3 without being hooked up to the internet it wouldnt matter

I saw the word "online" and was like Oh god, not this again.... but actually this is sort of an interesting idea. I don't know about it though. It might cause immersion issues... (Ex. "Hey look, you're also the Grey Fox, just like me!")
