Rping Alteration and my Knight/Paladin

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 12:06 am

Hey guys I like to RP some and mostly stick to it. I only use the shielding aspect for my knight (physical, fire lighting, frost etc) as he is suppose to be a defensive type of knight that specializes in self preservation and counter attacks not the Holy Wrath Offensive style of knight in which case I prefer destruction for my "Holy Fire" and a two hander. Do you guys/gals think it would be uncharacteristic of a defensive type of knight to use the other parts of alteration such as water breathing, walking, feather :) thanks in advance!

Alteration magic bases itself on the premise that the world is arbitrary, and artificial; created on the arbitrary whims of arbitrary beings. As such, it is highly moldable by creating a case which makes the world obey a new set of arbitrary rules. (In a nutshell)

It is actually a rather complex magical discipline, beaten only by Mysticism.

So would it be out of character for him to use the other parts of alteration? Again I use the Shields as "Auras" like the original D and D have.

If a paladin, then perhaps out of character (others may differ in their opinions), but pretty much anything goes for a knight! Reading the bit about self-preservation sounds like he would rather make his life easier, thus feather, water-walking/breathing would not be out of character.

I feel like I do a lot of plugging for Midas Magic, but he's got a few cool shield spells you might want to check out. There's Missile Shield which deflects arrows for a short time and (much later) force shield, which repels enemies who get too close. There's also a sort of anti-magic shield, but I didn't end up using that one too much.
