First off, a few screens.

Ive made these models completely from scratch, theres nothing illegal going on here. Note that the comparison pic was taken earlier today and I have since adjusted it so its now pretty much the exact same size as the original.

Now my question is, has anyone else started on such a project? I know Vality or someone made a 'aylied' tileset thats a retextured version of the daedric set with a couple extra meshes...Hopefully the gates he made is free to include in this mod, as I am not particularly good with textures and it would save me time.

Hopefully people can get some use out of this. I do not mod OB myself so it will be nice to get to play around with the tilesets Ive been missing. Oh and one other thing. My models are less than half the polycount of their oblivion counterparts. So far anyway, Ive only made 2 pieces. I will try and keep up that trend without sacrificing detail.

As far as I know, no one has done this. Midgetalien and Vality7 discussed doing it, but they ended up creating a "Falmer" tileset instead, since it was more setting appropriate for http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6270.

What you have done so far is good. You might consider getting Koldorn's permission to use the textures he's already made for Oblivion's Ayleid tileset. Since Koldron made them and not Bethesda, there wouldn't be any issues in you using them and it'd save you having to do the textures yourself.

I hope you get a chance to use them too buddy. I will try and complete at least two parts a day, probably more. The good thing about tilesets is that certain shapes repeat over and over so its not like I have to make each part from scratch. Once I get the main parts finished it will just be a matter of combining them into new models. And it really helps having a guide to follow instead of struggling to invent everything myself. This project is essentially a learning experience for me. Id much rather create completely original things but tileset making isnt something one just leaps into overnight. Ive only started making my own models a couple months ago.

Yeah, simple animations are no problem for me whatsoever.

Looks nice, Oderus! The Oblivion Ayleid meshes are amongst the most attractive in the game, even if the dungeons are somewhat repetitive. It'd be interesting to see a few Ayleid structures pop up on Vvardenfell.
