Ohhh, Eternal Daughter looks amazing. Definitely going to download it. Spelunky looks amazing too, but does it have online co-op?

It is amazing ;) and Spelunky is only solo.

That's ok. Though I can't think of anything else but Eternal Daughter while the I'm waiting for the download to finish.

Dwarf Fortress.

Id also recommend Nethack. Hours of fun for the whole family. Its easy enough to understand visually without a tileset.

In terms of shooters there's Urban Terror, a more realistic shooter using the Quake engine, Open Arena, which is basically quake, and Nexuiz. I haven't played Nexuiz or Open Arena much, but Urban Terror is quite fun once you get the hang of it.

I'll look at those shooters, but not Dwarf Fortress. Saw gameplay and I was so confused.

Was that with or without a tileset? Tilesets make the game a whole lot easier to understand. Besides, you can throw live monkeys at your enemies. Who doesn't want to do that?

I say give it a shot anyways, you have nothing to lose.

http://www.wesnoth.org/ is a pretty good "turn-based tactical strategy game with a high fantasy theme, featuring both single-player, and online/hotseat multiplayer combat." I haven't played it in a long time they are still releasing updates as of 2 weeks ago.

I'm not sure. I don't know what I did either. It just exploded.

It says "see more screenshots" on the left of that page. Right underneath a screenshot.

Wow that looks a lot better than when I played it years ago. I might have to try it again.

My one un-joy is they don't have Shadowrun.

Edit: Also, solitaire.

Couple of years ago I was looking for info on http://www.gamershell.com/news_9714.html as I seemed to have misplaced the retail version I had. Found out it's freeware now as a sort of promotion for H&D2. It is a bit dated so you'll have to spend some time to get the hang of the controls but it is hours of fun, and even my cheap netbook can run it.
It is a 4 man squad based WWII shooter where you can control one of the squadmates and give direct orders or even give detailed move orders on the map screen. I think you can even play it online but I never tried that.

Then on steam you can look for http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/ and http://store.steampowered.com/app/11020/, those are free.

EDIT: took me a while to find but http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ deserves mentioning.
