PC co-op connection! IMPORTANT ISSUE!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:44 pm

This post is mostly aimed at the developers of Hunted!

Now firstly, let me say how shocked I am that this thread has been closed:

We, on these forums represent the very people who will be paying for your games, thus in turn making you money.

Thus I highly recommend that the moderators here DO NOT close threads like that, as the people on these forums have brought up a clear issue with the PC version of Hunted, and the game is not even out yet, so this can still be rectified.

Also why no one understands that PSN is region locked is beyond me. It's part of how PSN works, when you make your account, your PSN account is locked to that region (and country even), this can be either Europe, America or Asia. So for obvious reasons in PSN's design, if the game uses PSN for connection and not a different system on PSN (e.g. Portal 2 which uses Steam and thus can connect PS3 users across different regions with PC users across any region). Now this is at least as my understanding goes for PSN, please correct me if I am wrong.

Getting to the main issue. Obviously Bethesda and the devs want this game to sell as good as possible on all platforms, including the PC. To allow this to happen, this issue has to be fixed.

No PC game with the exception of some mmos (e.g. World of Warcraft) is accepted by the PC community if it's region locked. Even the Blizzard giant StarCraft 2 had to handle this, as initially they said you could not play cross region, but this outraged the PC community and eventually they made a promise before launch that they would work on a system to allow players to play with other players anywhere in the world.

So to say that a co-op game, Hunted, won't support cross region play on PC?!? What are you thinking? Do you honestly believe the PC community will be happy when they buy this game and then discover they can't play it with their European/American/Asian friends (depending on where you live). This will outrage them and it will backfire on the developers and on Bethesda and in turn will hurt PC sales.

(As for me, I live in Europe and have cancelled my pre-order because of this as did my buddy in America who was going to play this with me, I will also be sharing this vital information in every PC gaming forum I am in as I do care about my fellow consumers and don't want them to feel the way I would have felt if I had bought this with my American friend only to discover we can't play this together on the PC, it is simply unacceptable).

Agreed, 100%.

Although i'm still purchasing this game, people should be allowed to play other regions

We do not allow threads about locked threads. If you wish to discuss cross-region support please use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1195377-hunted-online-multiplayer-co-op/, which the OP of the locked thread has already opened. You are welcome to repost your "getting to the main issue" in that thread.

Moderators do not close threads willy nilly, that past thread was locked for a good reason. I am sorry of the topic frustrates some people but that doesn't excuse uncivil discussion.
