How did they get working mines in the red mountain region?

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 4:40 pm

So I was jumping around with cheats, and came across 2 mines (ebony and glass mines). I went in, and there were people working there! I was really sad when they didn't tell me anything about why they were there or anything even like that.

I thought people never went up the red mountain, because they get corprus or diseases. So, why are there people working there? Is there a reason written somewhere?

Well most of the workers are probably argonian / khajiit - since no one cares about them in the game they get put to work in dangerous places! They work there because there's a lot of Ebony and glass in that volcanic area :)

but they were dark elves, imperials, high elves etc.

I understand about the profit, but still, I dont understand why they would actually go up there right in front of all the monsters. There are corprus people walking around everywhere just outside the door. It seems a bit dangerous, dont you agree?

Oh well. I am still sad that those npcs in those caves dont have their own dialogue explaining things. Perhaps somebody should make a mod that gives most NPCs their own dialogue.

Remember that many of the Great House Dunmer are very power hungry. In an Imperialised Empire, money tends to equal power. I wouldn't be surprised to find Great House Dres or Great House Hlaalu mining in the most hostile of conditions, purely because they can make a hell of a lot of money that way. Although, the fact that you say the people in the mines were in fact men and mer, rather than Khajiit or Argonian slaves puzzles me somewhat.

Step One: Employ guards
Step Two: Tralalala past/through monsters to destination
Step Three: ???
Step Four: Profits

Guards are pretty tough hey. Eg: One "Imperial" Guard can very easily bring down pretty much everything on the 6thhouse spawn lists and most daedra. 4 or 5 guards then could easily carve through anything in the way.

it's a small thing, but perhaps someone can script the NPCs to be disabled and corpus/6th house monsters to spawn untill after the end of the blight on red mountain.

All of the temple is expected to go inside the ghostfence once for a pilgrimage and I think deep into the earth in the mines, they are pretty well defended from the blight. It's hard to imagine a caravan from the ghostfence out but it's possible. Remember the blight is mostly an outdoor thing.

The one's actually not too far from the aforementioned shrine, right along the main path up the hill.

I don't suppose that they could give a few hints to the Imperials, who don't seem to know how to make a mine work right in Cyrodiil.

You see, there's a fundamental difference between the two that explains much.

Cyrodiil mines are run by Imperials. Vvardenfell mines are run by Dunmer (mostly). What does this tell you?

I thought everyone knew that the only person that creatures attack is the Nerevarine. All others can do their daily tasks unmolested.

As others have suggested, it's because glass and ebony are so valuable, that they are willing to risk getting the Blight by working there.

Keep in mind that the Ghostgate is meant to keep the Blight out, but anyone can freely enter.

Perhaps somebody should make a mod that gives most NPCs their own dialogue.

That's what the LGNPC Series does. Although they haven't done any of the NPCs in the caves/mines yet.

Haha, yes.
