TheDaywalker's
-Grimchand I

[cough]Uh[/cough] Ladies and gentleman,

after several declined WIPs, I finally finished a mod for the EV of Morrowind. It was made from scratch in about three weeks only for the pre-Xmas-calendar of my local german forum www.scharesoft.de

It has some kinda mini-quest, but rather is an explore mod. Exteriors are done, but Interiors still remain undone. Nonetheless it is worth a look. I have been very eager during that three weeks and I wouldn't drop you something I wasn't satisfied with!!! :)

As I don't feel like writing a novell right now, I just will present you the readme:

download at Tes Nexus:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28848

screenshot:
http://pic.leech.it/i/2ebbc/5cfc6d64grimchand.jpg

youtube sneak preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MmAjeRUDl4

This mod adds a mini-quest and some custom interior environment to the game. The whole thing was made for the pre Xmas-calendar of my local german forum in about 3 weeks. So some things still remain unfinished. You can explore the mod, watch some new animations, get some goodies, but there are no interiors made yet, simply architecture. But it is worth a look, promise!!!

Installation:

Requires: Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon

Just place the content of the folder ?TDW's Grimchand I_EV) into the Morrowind ?Data Files" folder and check in the pluging when you start the game.

Caution: If you intend to replace some of the textures of this mod, be aware that other of my plugin may use same textures. Sp best rename textures and renew the path in nifskope!!!

This mod was made from scratch in only 3 weeks, so there might still be small bugs, which I may have overlooked. Please inform me, if you find one, so that I can fix it fast, thx!!!

About the Adventure:

Once upon a time, not so long ago there was a wicked magician named Grim. Because of some reasons he became arrested by the temple and was imprisoned in the "Ministry of truth" (hope I translated correct). Officially known is that he died after some years by a serious lungs disease. A good friend and follower rof Grim, a man named Marus many years later spread the rumours Grim was still alive and well up. After what Marus told some close friends of him, Grim did manage to escape from "The Rock" very soon after he had been captured and since then he did hide at an ancient magic place named Grimchand, where even god Vivec wasn't able to find him.

The only way to Grimchand was an ancient dwemeric portal, only visible to the eyes of a friend of Grim. It is said that this portal is hidden somewhere in the hills very close to the Ghostgate. Marus became drowned at Ebonheart's haven for spreading these blasphemous words many years ago. His close friends delivered him to the temple's executives for a pay of 1.000 Drakes. Sure the temple had been searching eagerly for that portal, but they did never find it. These days you will get severe punishment, if you dare to spread this story otherwise as it was written in the official scrolls. So better do not dare to dig in the past!!!...
If you have read the text above closely ;) you will know, where the adventure for you begins!!!

Beautiful work here!
Elaura made me laugh :D
Spoiler
Best pooping bird ever!

One suggestion: Make the skooma pipe a Static or Activator, so it cannot be picked-up like http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o90/plutocruel/pipeScreenshot.jpg?t=1261390504 Or put the NoPickup script on it.

Anyways, nicely done.
It really makes me hope that one day in the future your Faerie Realms will see a release. :)

Thx man, I will fix that as soon as possible, but you know when testing I usually don't care for skooma pipes standing around, lol!!! ;) Faerie Realms won't be released as things look now. It was planned to be a large quest mod and I won't lay my hands on it again without any team, sry for that!!! I will concentrate on "Skyrim for Tes 3" now and help to make it the most awesome mod ever seen. If you have seen the artworks of the movie avatar for example, you will know what I'm talking about!!!

Thx, glad you like it!!! :)

About my models, I have no problems at all with others using them in general, but I have a reason for not giving them away as ressource. Each time I needed some help on my projects, I was left alone and nobody wanted to invest some of his time to help me out. 3D models do cost me a lot of time and I give them away with pleasure to persons who helped me. But I don't want to support those who just want to download my mods and puzzle it to pieces to get some free 3D-models.

You help me and as return I help you, that's a very fair and simple deal!!! ;)

Oh. Please, dont use textures in .bmp. Bmp-files are big. Too big. Convert them to .dds (106 Mb .bmp files versus 36 Mb .dds files).

Also, well. I like it, I think I'll translate it into russian, heh.

Sry about the .bmp, didn't know it is that big. I used .bmp, because it is more comfortable to work with. You can open the textures very fast, make changes, preview and so on. With .dds I need to use Photoshop or .dds viewer, opening and saving goes very slow, not like working with them very much. Nonetheless I will convert all textures to .dds with the next update.

PS: If you'd like to translate the mod into russian, please go ahead, isn't that much work to do!!! ;)

You can view them as thumbnails as any other format with this: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/dds_thumbnail_viewer.html (if it doesnt work there are a few other dds thumbnail viewers i believe).

you have more control with .dds files, can select how many mipmaps you want etc. The smaller size should even make them load faster.. don't forget that you can also use paint.net to open .dds files, i find that Paint.net loads really fast and you can make quick adjustments, Photoshop has a lot more options though.

Looks great btw :)

@Vurt: I promise the next mods I'll make will have .dds!!! ...well maybe 1-2 .tga and just a very small .bmp eventually!!! :D

You can use DDS Converter 2 or WTV.
Also, thanks for that.

This is fantastic, DW; I love floating landmasses (and am partial to making
them myself for my mages). I love the organic shapes of the "rocks". Such
seems more natural but otherworldly and mysterious at the same time.

Dear DayWalker,

I've been interested by your mod seeing the exterior part. It has a somewhat dreamy/magical/amazing touch I like a lot.

Any plans on finishing for me to translate it to french maybe? :D

Hope to get some news!

Thx mate, you got permission to translate it if you like, although there is not much to be translated, no quests and even the interiors remain undone. This mod was planned to be a ressource, not for ripping it apart for the 3D models, but adding some further content. If someone likes to use this environment for making his own quest or developing it, I'm fine with that!!! I personally have so much other stuff going on that I might not say if and when I will work on this plugin again!!! ;)
