Much to easy fights

Post » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:42 pm

Hi!

I'm playing FONV at hardcoe mode (played and loved FO3 before) and all fights are like cakewalks.

My character (sniper type) is currently lvl 10 and is using a scoped Varmint rifle.

All battles go by way too fast and the enemies drop like flies... even the named Fiends I had to hunt for one guy at the NCR camp south of New Vegas were no match and showed very little resistance.

Most of the time I don't even get hurt much by the enemies. Their tactics are lacking (they don't like to stay behind cover) and most of the time they just rush at me, while shooting here and there.

Are there any mods that drastically increase the difficulty of the fights?

Thanks! :)

So you had more difficulty with FO3? I have to self nerf to even play that game.

Players who are not good at FPS type games have a real tough time with NV.... just sayin'.

Why? I've never play FPS (hate them) but don't struggle with NV. For one it reminds me a lot more of Grand Theft Auto or Mercenaries (combat wise) than Medal of Honor, Doom or Modern Warfare. Of course I never play FO in first person (and never will).

The real way to increase difficulty is to reduce everybody's hitpoints, so that two or three solid hits will put anybody down including the player.

I agree. That's what I do. Play on normal, Endurance 3, no perks that bolster DT, small frame and kamikaze perk, hardcoe mode.

It's a limb damage fest. :)

Maybe it's easy with V.A.T.S.
try going without VATS and it's a lot harder.

I like it being easy because I don't like dying, I like *playing* the game, the adventurous part is why I play. I *prefer* easy fighting.

I'm not a fan of dying either, but I have no idea how people go through the game on hard/very hard and don't die at all, first time through. I played on normal and specifically kept my guns skill below 40, my energy weapons: less than 20, explosives: 6, melee: 6. I didn't go through vault 34? until level 19, and even then it was a lot of sneaking and a few close calls. If I hadn't had my companions, I probably would have died in there. Maybe I'm just not tactical....

Ok then, with a rolling pin :) And you will have to fight all of these enemies

Crikey, I could not swat a bloat fly with a rolling pin :laugh: ;
Now taking down any of those with one let alone all of them together would make the person who did it gamer of the decade imo.
Going to try it some time for the lol though.

As for cover system, I think spread of weapons should be affected by cover in FO style games, for pc's as well as npc's.
To get shot while behind an object in the heat of battle perfectly is very unbelievable to me, as should longer ranges on npc shots.

I also found it too easy - even in hardcoe mode including very hard settings and some addons to increase difficultiy - just makes them take more shots so it gets messy and one needs more ammo. But then i do play a sneaky sniper ... and the AI of the enemies does make it even easier because they do not react to fallen comrades or take cover.
Especially with ED-E and his sensor buff it is extremely easy to just go round any enemy and find a nice spot to just take them down.
Maybe just something that shows how dangerous snipers are ...

I don't know about AIs but would it be possible to get the opponents act somewhat cleverer?
Like get worried about dead comrades lying around?
Or other troups hiding inside the buildings coming out to close combat when you finally enter the place (like in Nelson)?
Maybe mines on the ridges above a location (where a sniper would like to set up for easy kills) - maybe even some enemies reacting at mines going off...
How about enemy snipers taking the players out *g*
Some of the Creatures even continue walking along as though nothing has happend even if they take damage (maybe because of sniper-suppressors and good hiding skills).

No pink dress could not find one, and I'm not familiar with youtube or posting on it anyway sorry.

This however is my attempt at a deathclaw with a clone of my now deleted melee build.
Level 28 all unarmed and melee perks taken ( except Paralyzing palm ) as well as finesse, better criticals and hunter, strength 10 ( with bear ), and no other stims or healing aid.

First three attempts ended like this http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g376/Indep/ScreenShot10.jpg .

Last go finally did it with a lucky knock down and even luckier final blow soon after he got up http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g376/Indep/ScreenShot12.jpg .
I called her Granny Insano, but next time I play melee it'll Charlene Norris.

Aww thanks Chuck, but on topic finally, if an old lady with a rolling pin can kill a deathclaw on normal hardcoe does that mean NV is to easy ?
Good gracious I hope not, if I've just suplied evidence that makes the next in the series a power gamers uber wet dream, it'll ruin the one series I'm any good at :ahhh: .
