Is the Repair Skill's Effect the Same?

Post » Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:56 pm

In Fallout 3, the repair skill would allow you to fix an item if you had a duplicate(or what was essentially a duplicate) of that item to a certain limit-which would rise depending on your current skill. Yet, with my skill only at 30 or so, it at least seems like I can repair amazingly well. Not to say it's not pleasant, but it makes me wonder if there's actually any effect, and thus point, to the repair skill when it comes to direct repairing. I know it has an influence on crafting-but does it still have an effect on repairing a weapon with another of the same kind?

In New Vegas, you can repair an item to 100% so long as you have the appropriate fix, but beyond Speech checks and perks and crafting, I dont see a use for repair as a skill like lockpick and sneak for example. Perhaps someone can explain repairs use in FNV.

Higher repair skills mean that repairs will give a higher condition. For example, a repair of 30 leads to a condition improvement of 10% but a repair of 80 leads to a condition improvement of 30%. In addition, a higher repair means that you can craft various ammo and weapon repair kits will repair more condition. Here's the link for the full information:

Yes it does have an effective on how well the combining the two goes.

Oh, I see now. :] Thanks for the explanation-I was getting confused when I noticed there was never a limit to how much I could repair(unless it was in perfect condition already). And for the link, I had looked it up but didn't find that page in particular.

and if you pick the Jury Rigging perk you can repair with similar weapons rather than repairing with an exact match.

"Similar" is putting it lightly, I can repair my Anti-Materiel Rifle with a Caravan Shotgun.

Jury Rigging saves so much money. Repair 90 is too low IMO for such a great perk.
