Chicken Little was too dumb to know the difference and claimed the sky was falling. All of the G.210-derived graphics chips are junk, period. The benches aren't the liars, it's the Chicken Littles with blinders on making exaggerated claims, is all that's going on.

I have the card and I get good settings on high you are chicken little in this case.

Then let's see a couple screenshots out in the forest with a creature or 2 in the vicinity with the FPS displayed on screen - so we can see the actual performance along with the look of the settings you are using !

I saw the Alienware in person. The screen is WAY too small.
I'm going to Best Buy now. It'll take about 2-4 hours to get there, buy the Samsung (310M), get home, make recovery discs, install anti-virus, install Fraps, install Oblivion, get through the tutorial again (decided to start over; only put around 10 hours into the game before, anyway), and actually get outside. Then I'll officially start to record the frame rates.

I'll test it on Low, Medium, Medium-High, High, and maybe Max. Then I'll post the results in this thread.

40-60 fps

I'd say that's pretty good. Then again, I'm not actually outside yet, so... yea.
I'll tell you all how that goes tomorrow.

Right. Even an Intel IGP, the worst of all possible chips, short of an S3, can breeze through the tutorial section.

The verdict:

30-70fps (average 40)
on a combination of Medium, High and Max settings. More High than anything else.

Yep, I 'recorded' the frame rates when I was outside. Went in the forests, on paths, around areas with water, and inside Imperial City. In the 4-5 hours I've been playing, I've only stuttered about 3 times. The frame rate never goes below 20, and it barely ever goes near 20. After playing for another 2 hours today, I can now happily conclude that my average fps is 38.
Resolution is 1366 x 768.

Sorry, I must chalk that up to limited expectations or other problems with perception. The benchmarks are in, and that's not a real gaming card. The fact that Oblivion isn't a modern, current game any more may have made a difference, and it's possible the OP hasn't actually come across any sozable mobs in the few tests performed so far.
