Things you may or may not have known about Crysis mp

Post » Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:37 am

Here are some things I feel should have been made clear in Crysis single player missions. (in order to "train" the players for mp)

#1 Laser attachment: Very important for mp this literally dramatically increases the first shot accuracy and spread of whatever weapon you attach it to.

#2 Silencer : If you do not have a silencer any time you fire your weapon all enemies in your area will see you on their radar hud where as if you have a silencer attached this is not the case.

#3 Suit Shortcuts : In Crysis options / mouse and keyboard setup put an X in the box that says suit shortcuts.

What they do : Suit Shortcuts allow you to switch suit modes without
bringing up the suit menu which makes it possible to switch modes while
shooting or scanning among other things. The biggest advantage however
is the fact that you can punch and switch to strength mode at the same time.
(This allows you to run at someone in speed mode and then punch them and
the suit will automatically switch to strength mode as you do so ...Rather
than bringing up the suit menu selecting strength and then punching)

How they work: Speed mode = double tap run
Armor mode = double tap move back
Cloak mode = double tap crouch / prone
Strength mode = double tap melee / double tap jump

#4 Simple Iron Sights : In Crysis options / mouse and keyboard setup put an X in the box that says simple iron sights.

Now with no scope attached to your weapon when you scope your
crosshairs /laser and target will zoom in
without the weapon or sights blocking your view. ( provides almost as much
zoom as reflex sight but without
the large red dot that can cover targets at long range and without the reflex
outline blocking your view)

Note: You must hold down the scope button in order to retain the scoped
position rather than toggling it like it does when using scopes on your
weapons. ( This also makes it easier to perform
quick prone snap shots)

#5 Rocket Launcher : After the rocket is fired it will track to whatever the laser dot is pointed on scoped or unscoped.

If you keep the laser painted on a helicopter then that is where the rocket will
hit.

If you aim at the sky and let the rocket fly up into the air and then reaim the
laser to an enemy truck or tank the rocket will turn around in the air and come
down on top of the truck or tank...

#6 Binoculars : Not only allow you to zoom in to see longer distances at greater detail they also amplify sound. You will be able to hear anything the binoculars are pointed at no mater where they are on the map. (even through hills , buildings , bushes...) This is very handy for spotting pesky cloaked snipers on distant hilltops as
you can find their position by listening for their cloak or footsteps. Also can listen for tanks leaving war factories , helicopters taking off, tanks hiding in tunnels ...

Other Handy things..

Wall Jump : Allows you to jump up and over very high walls.

Run up to a wall while looking down slightly.
Jump as you hit the wall and push the zoom and lean buttons while
wiggling your mouse left and right. ( takes practice to perform best if
done in strength or speed mode )

Crosshair with Laser : Gives you the - , - style cross hair even when a
laser is attached to weapons and rocket launcher. ( helps if your target is skylined where you laser has no background to paint on )

In Crysis options / mouse and keyboard setup select the blank crosshair box ( the
box that is empty ) then restart Crysis.

I wish Crysis MP was a normal and nice MP without all that special freak stuff and exploits.
I really hate it.

Then play a generic shooter like Call of Duty. Crysis is supposed to be unique.

In CoD you also can do mousewheeling you know...?
Which is a typical exploit like many of the ones above.

Mousewheeling is freaking retarded. In Crysis it was more likely to find people with nanosuit macros...

I agree.

Vert-X : In CoD you also can do mousewheeling you know...?

Many of the ones above???

You mean like using a laser and silencer on your gun?

Or using things that are in Crysis OPTIONS such as suit shortcuts or simple iron sights?

Shooting down helis with a rocket launcher and using binocs??

Mousewheeling is an exploit the above are most defiantly not.

Vert-X : I wish Crysis MP was a normal and nice MP without all that special freak stuff and exploits.

Yes a shame it is such a fast paced intense game with all that "freak" stuff and exploits like laser sights and binoculars instead of a normal and nice fluffy happy game.

Agreed, although hopefully Crysis 2 has a limit to what you can edit in the cvars like vegetation, and remove the no inertia bullcrap with magical spread reducing lazers which shoots magical bullets from player's heads.

I like the crysis MP, but using a controller is a nono! Using a KB/M is key otherwise you get owned in seconds.

This will be a mix of wars and crysis 1 stuff.

That if you get frozen while climbing a ladder, you can keep going up/down even after the ladder ends.
That if you start sprinting while shooting in Crysis Wars, you will start moving faster. If you do it in Crysis 1, you will stop shooting.
That the vents on the back of a tank are weak to gunfire, in particular that of the FY71.
That If you freeze a vehicle, you have enough time to switch weapons and destroy it only if you're in speed mode.
That if you aim up at 45 degrees, hold J for more than 3 seconds, and release J mid-strength jump, you can throw equipment extremely far.
That you can punch grenades away before they've exploded. They often go straight up. The same applies to smoke grenades (Flashbangs untested)
In Crysis Wars, if you have two people driving separately, you can get one "spawn truck" into the back of most enemy bases.
In Crysis Wars, on Mesa, if you're on the NK team, you can destroy the US base by shooting a tac shell at the right angle from the hill behind your own base.

All I can think of for now.
