Freaky, freaky AI

Post » Tue Oct 21, 2008 6:44 pm

Freaky, freaky. ED-E, Boone and I had just been to RepCONN and went back to the NCR Safe House to lighten the load, you know? So we're standing in the hallway by the NCR flag and the Mobile Face Recognition Scanner robot comes through the door and says, "What may I do for you mistress?" just as if we were still at RepCONN. So weird...wish I had a screen capture. :o

AI is so freaky....and I'm not one who thinks it should be programmed into real robots. I've seen Terminator. :D

Do you have a freaky AI story?

:fallout:

Emily Ortal seems to have no trouble entering the Lucky 38 and following me up to the presidential suite...
Spoiler
so why can't she just plant the bug herself?
Really, what's up w/ those entrance securitrons? Coffee break?

Wasteland critters have evolved to the point where they can open doors, so why do they insist on staying outside in the dust and heat until I just happen to go indoors to catch my breath?

Victor climbs mountains just to tell me he's headed to the strip. Thanks for going through the trouble, Vic ol' buddy.

There was a veteran legionary doing pushups while Boone and I slaughtered all his slaver buddies. Didn't move a finger to help them. And then, when we started hacking away at him w/ machetes we took from his deceased buddies, he just continued his workout until he died. Talk about being in the zone.

During the White Glove Society quest I approached Mortimer a moment too soon and the entire room of well dressed men and women got up and assaulted me with dress canes.

The Sunset bottlecap stalker somehow made it past NCR security into Helios One to tell me he saw me pick up a bottlecap that I didn't possess. I killed him and took all of his.

 I can't stand him, anymore. On a new character I was looting houses in Goodsprings and in one picked up one of those stars. Just the one. As I was exiting another house later on he came bounding over to me. How would he know I'd picked up one inside a house? Had he been following me and watching through the window? Creepy.

On another character I'd met a guy in his suite alone (we're not in Spoilers) and had just wrapped up part of a quest at a casino. I've done it dozens of times with no side effects. But this time when I took the elevator back down to the casino floor one of his goons was hostile towards me. Just one. Everyone else in the casino was running for cover. ED-E was staring at the wall, not fussed. Due to a mod I have that populates the casinos it took me a bit to pick out the red marker on my HUD. In front of everyone I killed him and the other people all just went about their business as if nothing had happened

Sometimes one going hostile causes a chain reaction with all the friendly markers turning red one by one. But, thankfully that didn't happen that time. I'd have had a hard time leaving the casino as too much gunfire from automatic weapons turns my game into a slideshow :)

Good old victor..
I made it past Novac and got to Freeside gates, then travelled back to Goodsprings north past the graveyard towards Red Rock.
He sprang out and started talking about all about Novac and what a way's I had come?

Then later got to Boulder city, left BC headed back towards Novac saw him wheeling along behind me and made it all the the back to Dinky without him catching me.

Good Ol' Victor.

That [censored] once ran up to me in the middle of my attemps to rescue the fair maiden at the well during the tutorial. Right in the middle of combat, geckos about to ravage this poor mistress and this bag of walking refuse has to stop me to discuss: wait for it............. a fairy tale about soda caps. Needless to say, she dies, my hope of being idolised by Goodsprings dies, so I only found it fitting that he complete the trifecta. Jerk.

I also have trouble understanding the attraction some poeple have to Black Mountain. Melissa, Jack and Janet, Major Polatli and Lieutenant Hayes have all felt compelled to trek up to the summit like it's some kinda Mojave Wasteland version of Mount Washington. I swear they each had a "I climbed Black Mountain" bumper sticker on their butts and a "I went all the way up Black Mountain, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" shirt. I've been up there. Nice view, but there's no restaurants and the locals are pretty surly. Fodors only gave it one star.

I was attacked randomly in Freeside, once I entered the next gate (some of them who happened to be people I helped and saved while in the followers camp just gave me a friendly hello) they started to run towards me in anger. I didn't understand and as soon as I killed one or attempted to run (I had companions with me too who started to defend) they would chase me. I even ran into the followers camp and suddenly (this includes all the sick folk) just surged at me with plasma rifles and pipes!
I died instantly.
Just goes to show don't [censored] Freeside!

:lmao:

I haven't seen that yet. Sometimes when my followers are waiting indoors somewhere I find their markers to the south east of Black Mountain. If we could fast travel to their markers that'd be handy. I don't know if they're really there, though, or it's just a bug.

Earlier in the game I rescued the captive NCR troops at Boulder City using diplomacy, and the Great Khans I assumed had begun making their way to Red Rock Canyon.
MUCH later in the game, I was in the vault where the overseer's were sacrificed.
Spoiler
I got into the sacrificial chamber (and died), reloaded my last save and took out the robots successfully.

I turned around to where I had been sitting, and the 3 Great Khans from Boulder City were standing there.

No screenshots unfortunately, running on Xbox.

Oh, they're really there. I TCLed up there the first time it happened, as I was trying to complete the amorous liaison between Jack and Janet. Had to speak to Jack one more time. So fly up there I did, had a quick conversation about the view, checked the gift shop for some Black Mountain Commeroative Spoons and then decided to run the ridge all the way down to see that was behind all those invisable walls. The next time it happened, I decided to wait and see what the intrepid Major Polatli would do. He started walking down the hill, so I had to shepherd him past all the radscorpions all the way back to Forlorn Hope. I'm gonna have to talk to my travel agent. He lived, but it seems he's gotten a bad case of the gout or something. Left him with a permanent limp. Both legs. Aruba's gotta be better than Black Mountain.
