On the current crysis games i'd say everything maxed with playable framerates but i'd upgrade the gfx card tho and maybe crank up that core 2 duo to a quad

Get an i5-750 CPU, that thing is a beauty.
You won't be maxing crysis on good res, but if you can settle with low res (will still be higher than console version... lol...) then you'll be good.
And I would recommend a gtx260 over the 250, it's not that much more, and its a hell of alot better.

Um the processor does not really affect the resolution that's the video card and the amount of memory it supports. The more memory you have, the higher resolution you can handle. But honestly since you are building a budget pc they will work but I think it will definitely not play crisis on high graphics. I would recommend a quad core but those are expensive since they aren't manufactured as much if at all because of the i lineup. For budget though unless you know people that can get you good deals, like my friend got a high end i7 for $85 I would stay away from those processors because the motherboards can often get pricy. But it depends on your budget which you have not posted which doesn't help. Also I agree get the 260 or as an alternate I recommend the ati 5770 which is what I have. The two cards are equivalent, some tests show one card with the edge and others show the other card with an edge. But the 5770 is cheaper.

getting an SLI capable mainboard doesnt make sense when youre trying to stay under a certain budget, dual setups dont pay off (even if you save a couple bucks at first the wattage will cost you more in the long run).
you definitely need a stronger graphics card than that, what budget are we talking about? cause those are mostly outdated/weak parts so far.

for the gpu the following criteria seem to make sense:
- should play crysis in high settings at the resolution youre planning to use
- doesnt have dx11! if crysis' dx10 mode was any indication (sorry crytek) dx11 in crysis 2 is going to be tiny unimportant stuff - heres where you can save a few bucks.

so theoretically i'd agree with a gt 2 series card, just not the 250. how about a 4890? check the price of that one and if it (or a 4870, almost the same) is cheaper than a gtx 260 BUY IT.
