You need a 3d monitor, a console / PC and a copy of Crysis 2.

Okay, its about time we got an answer. xD

I wont be playing in 3D then, too expensive. :O But still, its good for those bottomless pocket rich kids.

:3

Thanks for the clarification though, Lee. :) I did notice in one of the vids online, Sean Tracy is actually wearing a pair of glasses, any further clarification on what type of glasses are required? Will the nVidia 3D ones work?

I think you need a 3D monitor/TV, 3D glasses(not sure what kind), PC/Console, and Crysis 2.

I wish we would receive a answer from a Crytek person that could explain the requirements. Again we are getting responses from people that are assuming what it takes than actually what is from Crytek. Show me a document from Crytek or a Crytek employee response and then we will have exactly what it takes.

We all know what happens when we assume dont we?

Sorry, my error, you do also need a pair of glasses, but they might come with the TV - at the prices they are selling them, it should also make your bed and do the dishes.

Having seen the Crysis 2 3D trailer in-house so to speak, I can honestly say that the effects are epic. It really does bring a whole new dimension to the experience.

...literally ;P

I think the confusion is exactly what type of 3D glasses you need, but as you mentioned, it's likely to be whatever glasses your TV/Monitor requires, so check with your manufacture as to what type you need, i'd say would be the best bet :)

im getting crysis 2 for the PC
my specs are:
intel core 2 due 4GB of ram(only 3 usable)
nvidia geforce 9800
and a standard LG 60hz monitor.
I might upgrade to an i5 CPU and a slightly better GPU
my question is,again,do I need a special GPU or a monitor to play in 3D,and if it's just glasses then please specify exactly which ones.

You will definitely need a 3D monitor, glasses and a game capable of the 3D experience.

So true. xD

I cant afford a 3D monitor, i bought a great monitor already this year and however much i like 3D, i dont see myself using it for atleast another 3 years when prices go down. I remember when HDTV's were $3000.... :D

Haven't crytek mentioned that 3d will run on normal screens (as in 60hz monitors/tv's) with stereoscopic glasses? Or is that just a misinterpretation of journalists?

i, too remember either cevat or nathan mentioning anaglyph 3D. and that works with any monitor. if crytek made the 3D exclusive to polarized and shutter glasses TVs/monitors then almost noone would be able to enjoy it at launch. noone buys a 3DTV for ONE game, especially since the battle between polarized and shutter technology has yet to be decided. theres a reason why cinema went with polarized and i cant imagine wearing heavy shutter glasses all the time when playing but the market decision is gonna take some time just like it did with blu ray.

In the interviews i have read, they haven't mentioned anaglyph at all, they've said it'll be stereoscopic, and some new way of rendering can achieve it on normal (decent) screens. It'd be nice to hear some official word beyond just journalists articles.

Besides, no-one with 2 brain cells is buying 3d screens at the moment, since it'll be a year tops before the market is flooded with autostereoscopic screens that don't require glasses. Hell, even the nintendo 3ds doesn't require glasses for the 3d effects!
