Used Photoshop CS5 Extended (no negative comments please)

My opinion and few of my friends is that the change makes it look cooler as if the picture was made like that.

How to do this effect (Note: does NOT work on every picture!)

1. Open up the picture you would like to edit
2. Roughly outline the object (leave some space away from the body, will explain why in the next few steps)
3. Press SHIFT + F5
4. For "Use" select Content-Aware
5. for Blending select Mode - Screen and Opacity 100% press OK
6. Once loaded, you will see the weird looking patches of light around the guy (there is a reason why I told you to leave some space)
7. Click the "Spot Healing Brush Tool" and carefully try to highlight those spots (If does not work, select the Lasso tool and do "Content-Aware" and for mode "Normal")
8. Finalize the picture, save as and you have your own "Cloak-Style" photoshop!

Feel free to make a video tutorial! (Link me if you do!)

Hey
Nice work!
You said no negative comments but would would you mind constructive critisim?
I'm just going to say some things.
What exactly were you trying to achieve? Were you trying to make it appear as if he was coming throught the explosion right? You did it pretty well, only a few problems i.e. where his foot was here is some dodgy aftifacting, were you using something like Content-aware fill? I think that you may should have tried painting in that area or some cloning of textures to make it look right. Unless you were trying to make it look as if he was coming out of cloak? I'm not entirly sure.
I also don't understand the yellow paint or somthing on his helmate, gun and arm, what is it?
Also you have this ghoasting around the top half of the figure, it looks like you've added a cut-out/copy of him on top and lower the opacity and warped it a bit, was that to make it look like he is moving fast? I think that it could have been done a bit better, i.e. possibly using a radial blur set to zoom, or maybe motion blur? Not sure about motion blur but it could do it.

Could you tell me the basic outline of what you did to achieve this?

Thanks =)

Hi
As no negative comments I meant like when people say they don't like it and such. I do like when people help me though like adding suggestions. Okay lets begin answering questions haha.
I was just trying to achieve a little fame on the Crysis forum (who knows maybe Crytek will put it up as one of the free backgrounds?). He was coming out of the explosion with his cloak somewhat going to normal (dont know how to say) like the very first step of going un-clocked? On his foot, the texture is like "Glowing" as if his suit got really got and setting off heat, because of that the things around it (in the background as well) are deformed.
The yellow painting on his helmet and body is actually a reflection of the tree (on the right) from the Cloak's crystals. He does move fast, it's common sense he jumps out of the explosion and as he's about to take his first shot, he is turning off the "Cloak" mode. I'm not a professional photoshopper (maybe a few days of self-teaching) so in the future if I am asked to do something like this, I would do my best and improve from my mistakes.

I will edit my post and write what I did to achieve this effect, Stay tuned for that.

Thanks, Zillerz

Ok

Thanks for that info, make more sense now.
I'll say some more with that info.
First the tree reflection, im not sure whether its needed, im not sure if the suit is that reflective, but I recommend that you lower its opacity, it stands out to much and look to odd.
And for the foot being hot and as is coming out of cloak I think that you should just make his lower half i.e. from hips down gradually fade so by the time its at his feet they are completely invisable. Just because I think that the area where his foot should be looks dodgy.
Also for the cloak exit-phase (thats that ill call it =) ) Im not sure if there are some pics/screenshots already in the gallery showing such an effect, I'll have a look now. But if there is, have a go a copying them to get the right look.

And thats fine if you are only capable of the simple stuff, I've been teaching myself Photoshop for only a year now, and I can only really use simple techniques, im no good when it comes to masking ans stuff like that but The simple techniques are used in the more advanced ones and if you spend a bit more with on the you can get great results, so keep at it and learn everying you can!
I'm having a go currently at trying to do what you are, and I'm not gonna steal your fame, I wont even post the finished image but if you want I will PM it to you so you can 'study' it.
But yeat, other the everying I've mentioned (which I think is everything you've done ha!...im such a critic =) ) it is going well, you just need to refine it a bit and it'll look great! Keep it up!

Hey look, its looking way better. Great work!
You fixed up the foot area really well, although I think the your original one looked good where you could see his knee though the 'flames', i think it you got that bit back in it would look even better, but otherwise Great!

Damn right it will! =) But Im thinking about how you did yours...because the way you did it (of which I would never have thought so your going good!) it doesn't have the figure on its own layer. I'll PM you with a way of how to achieve it spacifically on the figure and not the overall image.

You can probably easily do my way and then engineer the picture using your way. You can also put like credits somewhere in the pic of like me doing the that and you doing this? That way both of us did something in the picture and its not selfish :)

Yes you probably can, but putting the figure on its own layer helps, when I finish the video it will most likely make more sense why it works differently.
But yes, joint effort =)
