i'll be very surprised if crysis 2 turns out to be the first game in history where teamwork truly works, especially without voice communication and clans. cause most people aint joining any clans or even using a microphone. from my experience your average gamer isnt interested in the social experience of communicating ABOUT whats happening in the game and supporting one another accordingly. back in the day i played bf2 on pc for years. in all that time i had only a few squadmates who wanted to coordinate our assaults or waited tactically for others to respawn (to attack as a team) etc. most players were frag grenade spamming n00bs who ran into firefights without having the slightest orientation, so basically these people didnt even plan their OWN moves.
if crysis 2's teamwork is nonexistant dont blame it on consoles or any other ****, its the players who arent open to the idea. they're gonna see it as that game where you run around and shoot people in the face, oh yeah, and you have superpowers. and thats how they will play.
atleast it might get better with time. the longer the multiplayer mode is online the more skilled players will make up the server population, less of those who ruin MW(1+2)
You nailed it. Its not so much the development of teamwork into the game than the people actually using it. Nobody uses teamwork. In Power Struggle, their is a way to coordinate attacks. But nobody really uses them. In Team Instant Action, you are encouraged to play as a team as well. I have had idiots teamkill me for my sniper on Steel Mill.
It is just very hard or impossible to find teamwork outside of leagues and clans. Mainly because most of the people searching for teamwork oriented matches will join a clan for that experience. I wish it could change, but I can't control the idiotic minds of millions of gamers. ^^
