Console on consoles?

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 10:11 pm

I wonder why there was no console to enter commands on the PS3 and X360 versions of TES4. Some serious bugs prevented me from finishing the Thieves Guild and made curing vampirism impossible. Letting the player plug in a keyboard and enter commands shouldn't be a problem, because I was also able to use a keyboard to title my enchanted items and custom spells on my PS3. I hope there will be a console on all versions of TES5.

I think it has more to do with the OS its running on then the lack of a keyboard. Im not completely sure about that but my guess is the best they could do is emulate it.

I think all those types of things have to pass by microsoft and sony.. not sure about that. Obviously some games like GTA had cheats.. but it would disable your achievements or something. Microsoft seems really "scared" of cheats/console commands. Not sure why that is. Obviously in a multi-player game cheats would be frowned upon. But a single player game.. why would they care? . There were more than a few times that my character got stuck and the simple toggle clipping command would have been extremely helpful.

I agree that some commands should be able to be included as cheats to deal with bugs (tcl especially).

The console isn't a "cheat function" for PC, it's a remnant of development which just ins't removed. I'd imagine there would be outcry from the mod community if it was. Since no modding or development actually takes place on a console, there's no need for a, uh, console.

Achievements are also something I'd love to see in TES5. Wouldn't it be cool to get all achievements for an Elder Scrolls game?

Okay, I didn't know that. But you have to agree that the console is extremely helpful when facing bugs.

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but I couldn't imagine that! I'd hate seeing some out-of-place, immersion-destroying "ACHIEVEMENT: RAT HUNTER" kind of notification every so often, especially when you first start playing and gain the ridiculously common/easy ones.

Not really up to Bethesda from what I understand

It's more up to Sony and Microsoft

This , only reason I see a reason for a console is to fix bug problems which then again us console users should just wait for a dang patch.
