Crysis 2 fact or bs?

Post » Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:32 pm

I've been hearing alot of people say that if you could run Crysis in medium, you'd be able to run C2 higher and better. Is it true, or is it some more BS llike when Cevat told us that the 64-bit version would run better but actually turned out buggier than the 32. If possible, can a Crytek representative answer this for me/us? Thanks

If I don't remember wrong, what you say is almost true. I think Crytek said that a computer that run Crysis on medium can run Crysis 2 on medium, but Crysis 2 medium wil ofcourse look better than Crysis medium.

Crysis 2 is less demanding than Crysis 1 was. This is due to the fact that Crysis 2 has been optimized for consoles. This doesn't ruin the graphics on PC though, as it will still look way better than Crysis 1, because of the new Cryengine 3. PC's will have better graphics than on consoles, due to technical perfomances like DirectX 11, Antialiasing and so on. To play Crysis 2 on a high setting, the least durable card would probably be the Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX, which is starting to get old. Even with this card, you'll get a fluid experience on High settings.

Crytek also said that with Crysis a lower clocked quad core would actually perform better than a higher clocked Dual Core. You cant believe anything they say until a demo/beta/game comes out.

It should be fine, they have said that crysis 2 will run better than the original on the same system. I'm hitting around 40fps average in warhead on very high, 1920x1080 and 4xAA so it's good times, especially if they add some nice dx11 features *hopes for tessellation* :D

To be honest it'd be a travesty if crysis 2 doesn't push dx11, considering it's heritage of previous games made by crytek. Still, it should run great.

Well I'm using CCC custom config level 5 (which looks alot like Very High) on 1680x1050 w/ 2xAA. I averge at 42FPS. What would that number be in C2 (approximately)
