Another Question?

A big complaint I had with Fallout 3 was with energy weapons when they melted to goo or turned to ash enemys bodies stayed on the ground and the enemies would not respawn around certain areas like the Bethesda Ruins and on some bridge by Vault 101, it made the game feel not as alive or as challenging, is there a problem like that in New Vegas, I've not really used energy weapons yet...

Well I'll take your word for it but I honestly can't remember having a problem with it. Were you on the pc?

No I played it on 360, but yeah it irritated me really bad just curious if anybody else had this problem. It was strange but it only happened with the energy weapons when the bodies turned to you know the ash or goo....

Well I just wanted to know if the same thing happened in New Vegas, but it mainly happened with the raiders remember the Bethesda Ruins the highway by Vault 101, also you know that super mutant camp by Rivet City right across the way from Project Purity the mutants turned to goo and ash piles there too. Remember this is on the Xbox 360 version.

Alright I completed my test at Bethesda Ruins not to long ago and this is how it went.

-I counted and killed 7 raiders in just the exterior area and 3 were goo/ashified

-when I returned ( around 4 in game days later) I counted and killed 7 raiders total in the same exterior area (and in the same spots as last time)

Ill continue to keep an eye out for this happening but as it would seem (and Im not saying you're not having the problem) I don't see the goo/ash=no respawns for me. (just to make this clear I did do my test on the xbox with GOTY edition)

One thing I did notice though that could explain it is that the goo/ash piles do not go away. Is this what you are referring to? Prehaps you are seeing these piles and assuming that what originially made them did not respawn? just a thought.

Well for example you know how one raider stays in the bus at the Bethesda ruins and there is like two or three that are around the building, some of them have not respawned its just there ash that lay there, I have also counted the raiders and there is like one two and I think there was like three that did not respawn. Remember how I mentioned the super mutant camp close by Rivet City right across the way from Project Purity as you mentioned above the ash and goo stays there but the enemies did respawn there I think there is around three in that area. One spot where its really noticeable is the highway by Vault 101 the one thats kind of behind the hill Vault 101 is under alot of raiders did not respawn there. I did not however play with the game of the year disk because I downloaded the DLC for the game, do you think that might be a factor, also thanks for testing it out. Also has there been any problem like this in New Vegas that you or anyone else has noticed?

hmmm well thats strange.....yes it could be the fact that I have the game of the year edition as that is fully patch...although if you have xbox live I would think that yours would be as patched as mine but prehaps it was only fixed with the GOTY.

If that is indeed the case then I would assume that the problem would no longer exist in New Vegas so I wouldn't worry about it there, unless someone in the studios was slacking off... :brokencomputer:

I hope the problem did not move in to New Vegas as I am a little OCD about respawning enemies I like them toi reappear so I can come back and kill them again it also keep the challange up. Anyways I thought I had the full patches for it too. I am going to get the game of the year version anyway so I guess I'll see if they fixed it...I do however hope the problem is not in NV as I love energy weapons. :shocking:

No, I think that in FNV enemies do respawn after being turned into ash/goo (if, indeed, they are meant to respawn). Perhaps you are referring to the fact that the ash/goo piles do not disappear.

In Fallout 3 I had a problem with enemies respawning I was wondering if the respawn issues persist in NV, but yes I found out the ash/goo piles stay in NV also which is rather irritating...

In Fallout 3, my problem was that they respawned :(

(When I clear out a warren, or building, I want them to stay gone. A big part of the series was that things that get killed stay dead).

In some places respawning makes sense... like an NCR barracks for example, but if three super mutants are camped out in a ruin... and you kill them... It just doesn't make sense that three more show up three days later. :(

New Vegas respawn their NPC back to the spawn area AFAIK. The pile of ash and goo will stuck where they were and all you to interact with if the NPC is respawn....
