Anyway to modify the sniper rifle to what it was before the

Post » Sat Nov 22, 2008 2:11 am

Hi !

Was just wondering if there is anyway to modify the damage and crit multiplier on the sniper rifle.
Since my entire build centers around the sniper and ratslayer rifles, i′m really reluctant to use the latest patch, which means no bugfixes or ability to use DLC:s...

Any help would be appreciated !

If you are on PC then easily.

If you are on Xbox 360 or PS3 then you can not. You could deleted the patchs. However you wouldn't be able to play DLC or connect to the internet if you are on F:NV.

The Sniper rifle still does good damage, I don't see the problem. I've been 1 shoting Fiends with ratslayer since I picked it up no problems.

Sniper Rifle used to be rated at 62 dmg or something like that...the patch reduced it to 42. Also, it used to have a 5x critical multiplier and they removed it entirely I think? I can't remember now, too tired to check the wiki....bedtime. :D

The patch reduced the power of the sniper rifle from 60-something to 40-something. I forget the exact numbers. It was pretty goofy that the sniper rifle did over 60 damage when the hunting rifle only does 40-something. Also: the sniper rifle had a x5 critical hit bonus. For players that minmaxed their character, this meant a 100% critical hit ratio was possible, turning the "sniper rifle" into an all-purpose all-range BFG. The crit ratio was reduced to x1 like most other guns.

Did the GOBI take the same "hit" after the patch?

Yes. It would be highly goofy otherwise.

Do you really think a sniper rifles power equaling to or near to a varmint rifles power is a good thing?

Clear your cache on the 360 to remove the patch, you can't be signed into XBL and it's probably not a good idea to play saved games post-patch, but I reverted to prepatch because the patch caused more problems than it fixed in addition to [censored] ing up my favorite weapon (balance my ass, I like my sniper rifle).

You dont need to do anything just go to a website with mods for the game and there are prolly 5 billion sniper mods that change it back. Just google fallout nv mod and enjoy.

No I'm saying if I can do it with a Varmit rifle, there's no worries about the actual sniper rifle's effectiveness.

It's an imbalance when the sniper rifle is balanced against probably the weakest humans in the game, while all other weapons are balanced with each other.

Post-patch, the sniper rifle does comparable damage to the Cowboy Repeater (using JFP ammo and Cowboy perk), with the Cowboy Repeater actually doing more damage against armored targets.

Post-patch, the Trail Carbine does up to 50% more damage than the sniper rifle.

Both the trail carbine and the cowboy repeater beat the sniper rifle in every other stat (attacks/sec, dam/AP, weight, item HP). Except spread, which is unnoticeable - e.g. the Hunting Rifle has the same spread as the Trail Carbine, but people use both to substitute for the sniper rifle, all the time.

You need the http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/Main_Page. After that, load FalloutNV.esm, make the changes to Sniper Rifle and Gobi entries, and save it as a new plugin that you load like any mod. Very simple to do, and that site has tutorials on how to use the GCEK.
