What Brink Needs

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 10:50 pm

I will list a few things that most players will agree needs to be changed.

First in most competition 5v5 games from Brink.tv or Gamebattles you don't see heavy's on teams. Why is that is because there hit points are two low. Splash Damage needs to up the hit points so they can be the tanks they need to be. I also think a light should not be able to knock down a heavy with a slide. Also they are so slow and so big they need to be bullet sponges which right now they are not. The Heavy is the 3 option in body types and this would be a way to help even out the odds.

Next is the class ICON. In a competitive match you want to know a persons class more then their name but when you are focused in on three guys shooting at you it is hard to pin point the medic out to focus fire on him first. Not saying this is a big deal or game changer but It would be nice if the Icon was over either over or under the players name about 2 font points bigger then the name. It would help out.

The Bars listed under the gun stats does not do the stats justice. Numbers would be a better way to convey what a guns attributes are. When you buy the strategy guide you get numbers instead of bars and he helps way more.

These are a few suggestions for Splash Damage. Maybe they can make the changes this game. If not implement them next game.

I agree with everything you said but I was just on playing through the campaign and the connection & lag issues were so atrocious that I came here to find a way to complain. I would like to see those additions but not at the expense of them fixing what we spent our hard-earned money on. THEN let's talk about these nice things. I'm afraid that we're being placated with the lure of free DLC's and so-called "Console adjustments" to distract us from the real problem, LAG ISSUES THAT CAN BE SO BAD THAT YOU CAN'T MOVE OR AIM OR YOU JUST JERK BACK AND FORTH. PLEASE FIX THIS!!! I'm sorry I ruined your post but it just reminded me of what we should have first, before all the nice add-ons.

We have a thread for that.... Check, Brink Hardware and Software Issues Subforums, lets keep these together so the Developers can see our the problems and hopefully fix them.

You did ruin my post but I agree with you. Lag is an issue. I think they understand that Lag is an issue and are working on getting it fixed. Splash Damage knows they can't make a pure multiplayer game and have lag issues. It just comes down to if they have the amount of resources to get the job done quickly. They got resources but maybe not enough to fix the net code quickly. We will see. Now can you answer the questions in my post please. LOLOLOLOL

One thing I think they need to add is a lobby. Its a pain to get a group of people in the same game then to get them on the same team. Right now you have to join a game and hope that there are enough openings for everyone you invited, and hope that people quit to get everyone on the same team.

Or vote to kick the other people on your team to get your friends in, but that isn't fair to the people on your team. It is sad that this is the process you have to go through to play online with friends.

It is sad but a must if you want to play with your friends. I think because PC gamers play with dedicated servers soooo much they they overlooked the importance on party lobby for us XBOX Players.

None of those things is of much interest to me.

I can't say that I have enough experience with heavies to have a valid opinion.

What brink needs is better net code and more maps.

A light map editor, something where you could place objectives and would be cool. Of course then they'd need a way to share those maps and such so..... Brink 2 baby.

Heavies are fine IMO. I've been using a heavy soldier this week and when buffed, I can mow down half a team if positioned right while taking damage.

Class icons I completely agree with. They aren't identifiable enough as is and need to be bigger. While I love the customization of Brink, I really loved how in TF2 you could instantly identify a player's class by their unique appearance. Very sound design at work there.

As for gun stats, I'm honestly not too concerned with them as they seem rather inaccurate as they are any ways. I just test them all out to see what works for me on different builds and ignore the stats for the most part.

Actually I just boot people when I need to make room for friends. Evil I know but it is necessary. Edit: Already posted

Strongly disagree about Heavies - in a straight-up fight where the two characters run head-on into one another, the Heavy rarely loses half his health against a smaller enemy, human, bot or otherwise. Assuming, of course, that the Heavy player in question knows what they're doing. If someone takes a Heavy by surprise, that body type is the best for surviving long enough to turn and fight back. I've seen Heavies get hit from behind by Lights, turn around, and win. Only barely, and if I was Medic at the time, I was much-needed, but they still survived an ambush.

Heavies are great even though a little slow moving about, but with the help of a smaller team mate that can move quicker in front of my heavy, i can stay back from him just a little and hold the square button as to give him buff, but without giving the buff, and this allows my heavy to run as fast as a smaller character.
So much of this game is dependant on the team mates giving buff and giving extras to each other in order to beat the oposing side. Upgrades to command posts are important and depending on what abilities each team member has and how often my heavy recieves buff he can have extra ammo, extra pips, kevlar vests and while being battle hardened and having his own prefered abilities, he can be difficult to bring down at times.
