Random NCR Attack?

Post » Fri Dec 05, 2008 12:56 pm

I'm not too sure what happened. I was just plugging along with the quests and after I finished the interrogation and got the stuff from Lt. Boyd, I kinda mosied around the airport a little more. As I was though, these two guards by a door started to shoot at me. In panic, I saved my progress because I hadn't yet and I would've lost all sorts of progress. Only trouble came about when Lt. Boyd saw and I ended up killing her. I was accepted+ with them, so I have no clue what happened. Has anyone else had that problem?

I wish I'd done multiple save points. That's a noobfail on my part.

It wasn't random, access to the monorail is restricted and you must not have heard the guards saying "any closer and we shoot"

Nope. That's the last time I try to play later in the evening with the volume down. Damn.

I thought if you were Accepted by the NCR the restriction on the monorail is lifted....but that's just from the wiki. Since they let me in anyway (even when I don't have Boone) I know nothing on this one from personal experience. heh

Save for Crim who got lucky apparently, the only way you are permitted access to the Monorail is

A. Having Boone in your party
B. Liked+ Reputation with the NCR
C. Wearing Trooper armor.

Edit: Oh, and

D. Executing the NCR and gunning for it

Learned that the hard way when I first played the game on the night of release.

-walks towards doors with accepted rep-
-am being told to back off-
-ignores and gets near doors-
-gunfire and my death ensues-

Wow, I didn't know this because I don't go to the Strip until later in the game. Thanks.

The only time the NCR shot at me, and Boone warned me afterward, was when I fast-traveled to McCarran wearing Great Khan armor. I had to reload the game.

Yup, yup. Really hating myself for that one. Live and learn! Now just to work to get my rep up again.
