Buy i5 750?

Post » Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:55 pm

I currently own an i5 661 Dual core with hyperthreading. The reason I was wondering about the 750 was because I'm worried that Crysis 2 will eat up my dual core, is it safer to get a Quad and spend another 200$ or will I be fine with my dual... I noticed that the 661 is more expensive than the 750 on newegg, probably because the 661 is @ 3.33ghz and the 750 is only a 2.6ghz. I'd like thought out answers please :D

Thanks

Nah just spend it on a graphics card... or a SSD would be well worth it too. Most games won't make use more then 2 cores anyway.

Go for it most games are moving towards quad core support i would be very surprised if crysis 2 didnt support 4 cores even 6 cores.

Are you guys sure I should buy this? I just spent 200$ on the 661, I don't really want to go again for the 750. Alot of people have been telling me that I would be fine with a dual core for Crysis 2... I want to be on the right path and I don't want to be wasting money so I need a sure answer.

Most games this year have begun optimizing for Quad Cores instead of Dual Core processors. Especially with Crysis 2 being delayed until 2011, I doubt dual cores will be their sole focus.

If you sell the i5 661 and buy the i5 750, you will only end up dropping $10-20 for 2 more cores! Quad Cores are also much more future proof if you ask me.

The i5 750 is one of the best processors around when it comes to bang for your buck. If you feel your current processor is a bit too weak then by all means buy the 750. If not, just get a new graphics card
