The Crysis Facebook page is age restricted, as such, you will need to be 17 or older to view it.

This is due to the 'mature' rated content on the site.

Who is responsible for such a requirement on Facebook pages? Does such a requirement even exist? Requiring the users to login or register on Facebook is, quite simply, annoying as hell and silly.

Is it required? If so, who is enforcing such a requirement? Furthermore, how can one possibly rate content on a Facebook page? A Facebook page, by its nature, is a not static. Also, most stuff you put up on Facebook pages requires no need for age restriction. Quite frankly, I haven't yet spotted content on it that would.

So, the bottom line is... is it REALLY necessary to restrict the page? Really? Really, really? Is it 100% required? While many people do have a Facebook account, there are also many people who don't or have deactivated theirs and/or have no intention of either registering or re-activating their account (which is done instantly after login). So, tell me again why is it necessary to abuse these people with such, frankly, silly requirements?

For the same reason this site is 18+
For the same reason sosnewyork.com is 18+

It's what the game is rated, therefore, all official outlets are rated the same. I would assume that Crytek's legal department is responsible for such a requirement in all cases.

Yes, it really is necessary for us to restrict the page so that only those old enough to do so can. It is both a legal and moral requirement.

"Thanks Lee,now it works. Iam 20 years old *now* :)"

Well, there goes the moral requirement.

Its a legal requirement. But honestly, any teenager with an IQ over 60 can realize how to get past those "unstoppable" agegates. xD

Sure, people will get round it if they really want to, but we have the system in place to protect those who are legally (region dependant) not entitled to view the site.

I think video game rating systems (and rating systems in general) are utter **** these days. Sure, maybe 5 years ago they were semi-fine, but today, they're just downright useless and do pretty much nothing. All they do is just annoy people. That's it.

Ratings were flawed from the very beginning, really. It's just a number that says "Hey you, you're not *age* yet. Get lost!" and says absolutely nothing about what's so wrong with the content or what's so wrong about the content that will inflict mental damage on you. Basically, no information about why this content is best for you to be unseen/heard.

And then there's the question of whether the content will inflict mental damage on you at all. I seriously doubt they have teams of people (at least competent ones) that could be able put out proper restrictions based on real information. Right now, it seems to me that some random guy somewhere thinks of a nice number and says this content will have this number. End of story. Which in term could have bad results on both sides of the scale.
