Hmmm...so it's pretty much M&K for you guys. Quite unexpected, really. And just to clarify once more, my question wasn't 'console vs PC', but for people who does play on the pc.
I always figured that for a game such as these, one where you can easily play for hours, comfort would be the main priority. See, recently i started to play Mass effect 2, and since it doesn't support controller, i was forced to use the M&K anyway. After just a couple of hours of gameplay,i have to stop because my shoulder hurts and my eyes feels like they're going to melt.
So my question is, how do you guys can manage to play fo3 and fnv for hours using M&K without feeling like you just got hit on your shoulder by a sleedgehammer...and are slowly going blind? ok..wireless M&K... but then what? you can't keep both of them on your lap...
Any tips?
Ouch, that sounds awful. :cryvaultboy:
I play at my desk with all the usual ergo setup stuff to keep my hands from exploding when typing and doing graphics. So, neutral wrist, shoulder, elbow position, straight back-- well, straightish, I find myself hunching forward and making my neck hurt a little trying to see little details and distant targets-- anyway, having a chair that doesn't encourage me to slouch really helps. I'd be a little cautious of wireless stuff if you wind up lounging and curling your back up with stuff on your lap. The screen height can really affect my neck angle, and slouching pulls my shoulders forward and stretches the muscle between my shoulder blade and spine-- that's a sensation like it's on fire, so I keep the mouse in easy reach.
Then it's ergo mouse and keyboard. Well worth seeking out and experimenting to find what you like-- you'll be using them for everything else you do on the compooter anyway. My mouse hand used to curl up like a claw in past years, but the mouse I use now is so great for my hand that now it's my WASD hand that feels it the most. A split keyboard with a rise in the middle took a big load off my left hand for gaming. (Annoyingly, it makes my already terrible typing even less accurate, but I got priorities, dammit! )
Lastly, (and sadly, I know) is get some strength &/or physical therapy exercise! It rules, as PenGun testified.
Next for my neck is going to be some #@%&$! glasses that have a focal range at about 2.5 feet-- the cheapo reading goggles I use to read focus nicely at about 1 foot, so I slouch forward see the screen. Really doesn't cut it after about hour 10...
