Post Your Overclock Here!

Post » Fri Jan 02, 2009 5:23 am

So, we have a lot of PC junkies around here, but nobody has made a proper tech section yet. :P So, here one is. Post your overclock, share some nightmare stories trying to get stable, or help some chap overclock his cpu to new heights.

My Overclock:

Intel Core Two Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz STOCK
Overclocked to 3.4Ghz, vcore at 1.318v
Front Side Bus: 425MHz, Multiplyer: 8
RAM: 1020MHz 5:6 Ratio with my FSB

My Software:
Orthos Stability Tester
Core Temp 0.99.7 (i get 64C under 100% load 2 hours, 44C idle)
CPU-Z

Everytime i try to get past 3.4GHz i hit a wall where i either dont post to BIOS, hang in windows, or dont boot to windows. Feel free to share your overclocking stories here! :D

I overclocked my i5-750 to 3.7 ghz from 2.66 Stock
FSB: 185
Multiplier: 20
I just use load line calibration to automatically adjust the voltages when needed works fine
After 2 hours Prime95 stress test it's at 80 degrees (Probably not a good thing but when will i run all cores at 100% for that long)

Fix't :)

I haven't had the chance to overclock my new i5 750 yet, but once the D14 arrives i'll be sure to juice it up :)

Prior to that i had my Q9550 @ 3.6GHz, my E8500 @ 4GHz, my Q6600 @ 3.4GHz and a suicidal run of 3.8GHz on my E6600. All on air :)

That is extremely hot, i wouldnt ever suggest ever going above 74C, or you will lower the lifespan of your CPU by a lot. I suggest you invest in a better cooling system or tone down your vcore until you bsod, then notch it up until you are stable. I would start at 1.4v and work your way down from there.

I'm running my i7 920 default at 2.66 at 3.6. On 100% after an extended period of time it reaches 80c.

A quick question, sometimes when I start up my comp ill hear a slight rattling/buzzing noise, which after a little time just fades out and goes back to normal. Could this be to do with the fan inside my case, on the processor or is there something else I should know??

Please reply asap. Thanks.

If it goes away once you post to bios, then you are fine. Its probably your fan running really slow until you post to bios so the motherboard outputs the information to run at a quicker rpms, making the rattling go away.

80c is fine for an i7.

Actually, that is your fans spinning up to full speed as part of the POST. It is normal, but if one of your fans is making noise, it could be a sign of a bearing going bad.

CPU tempurature is driven mostly by its frequency, not bfore as some believe. So if you are too hot, lowering your clock is how you correct it. Vcore, while it does have some effect, has a relatively small effect on core temps.

I overclocked my AMD Phenom II X4 to 3.6ghz compared to the original 3.2 ghz

OC'd my ASUS 5770 to 930 mhz from its stock 850 mhz. which meant all the difference since i can now play the game smoothly at 1280x720!

The GPU is still at its stock memory of 1200 though. I also didn't have to increase the fan speed by too much.

Already 2 years old my comp, but

Overclocked my intel E8400 from stock 3.0Ghz to 4.3Ghz (1.20v standard Vcore, not overclocked) easily on air. Haven't tried anything higher, at max temps reach just 60. Using MSI p45D3 platinum motherboard.

CPU: Intel Q6700 @ 3.2 GHz FSB 400 MHz MULTIPLIER: 8
VIDEO: ATI HD RADEON SAPHIRE VAPOR-X 5770 @ 950/1350
RAM: DDR2 1066 MHz
These aren't max overclocks as my room gets a bit hot over the summer and my gpu has been hitting 51 idle at least thats what CCC tells me versus EASY TUNE 6 which reads 7 degrees cooler. Last time i did a stability test i hit max over clock that is allowed, without modification with a pass.

Oh and my max temps on the gpu are about 60-70 while gaming or 80 while benchmarking. My CPU temps stay below 120 degrees Fahrenheit

Cpu: i7 920 c0@ 4.2 (watercooled using 360rad)
GFX: Tri Sli evga gtx 480 @ 950/1900/2300 @1.15v (watercooled using both 480 and 240 rads. idle at 40c and 100% load at 60c)

These are 24/7 stable clocks both 10hour + prime and furmark stable. Ambient is between 68-72f.
