Losing ED-E? : Fallout: New Vegas

I seem to have lost him at vault 22 after the explosion.my pip boy says he is there but i searched that vault from front to back and i cant find him.is there a way to get him back or is he lost forever?

I did some research on the issue and I found this note. Perhaps it can give you some insight on what happened to ED-E and possibly how to rectify the problem if you're on a PC.

If ED-E is rendered unconscious via an explosion it has a tendency to disappear, but will remain stuck as a companion. If ED-E disappears but is still a companion (check if you still have the Enhanced Sensors Perk) e.g. After triggering the Vault 22 explosion/fire, Use the console with the prid command, then you need to type disable, followed by enable, then moveto player. It may also be necessary to use resurrect as well in order to retrieve him as he may have been marked as dead despite being essential. Note that after ED-E appears again after using these console commands his inventory will be empty.

i wonder if it has to do with the female ghoul?she wont leave,everytime i talk to her she always say she is gathering her things but days later she is still there.

Probably not.

If you have the latest patch and if you have used the elevator and if that has not returned ED-E to you...

Playing on a console you only have one option: Reload a save before the explosion. Then take him and any other companion you have to the elevator and make them wait. Then go blow things up.

Don't bother taking them out of the vault or to another floor. When you use the elevator they will appear with you. This has been done because companions (particularly ED-E) were getting lost and folks like you on a console couldn't get them back.

Using the Vault 22 elevator is the only way someone on a console can get their companion back.
