Boulder City

I know that you guys are sick of these questions but is Boulder City a good place to make a safehouse? Only reason I would want to make one here is because how cool it looks at night.

I found Boulder City to be one of the most boring places in the Mojave.. maybe I didn't explore it enough.

Only having about 2 places to enter isn't very interesting to me, but maybe I missed something. I never went back there after killing the Great Khans for the Main Quest.

Boulder City certainly didn't have much to offer as far I was concerned, either.

In terms of being a safehouse...I'm sure it's fine. Just don't use the mailboxes and such for storage. Aren't many things (like, almost zero) that are set to/will respawn in NV but mailboxes occasionally seem to be one of them. And if you're not the trusting type, as long as you have lots of separate save games and check back to your safehouse regularly, you can soothe the paranoia by knowing you'll only have to reload a save to get all your stuff back.

I don't think anyone is sick of your questions. This place would be pretty dull if folks didn't ask questions.

Just remember this is the General forum. When asking specific questions about gameplay (this isn't) it is usually safer to ask in the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers Forum.

You will probably be safe in Boulder City, but you'll be very bored.

It's not too bad a location, near 188 for decent trade and a bit secluded so it's got a bit of privacy.

Would be a good place to add some player home locations for mods too I reckon, or add anything really because it's so devoid of, well anything.

It is safe for the most part, and later on adds a tiny bit of life.

However even that's quite dull.
If any place should have had a series of quests to make a settlement come to life I think it should have been BC.

Boulder City could have been so much more. However it's proximity to a major battlefield probably stopped it from being more built out.

Agreed. Also, the Legion is close by and it is only a matter of time before they come back. The Legion will raze the place to the ground (go Carthage on it) if they capture it. People know about the first battle, so as long as the Legion are around it will not be resettled by any large number.

I was incredibly disappointed with Boulder City in NV.
It's a nice town in real life, and in NV it felt like they got lazy with it.

It had so much potential

Don't forget that the place got pretty leveled in the first battle of the dam.

Yes but it's meant to be a workers town.
Even with Quarry junction out of order, the place would have had more of a night life.
There would have ben workers camps with tents and traders.
A whole tie in to the history of Hoovers dam and the exploitation of labour that went into its construction.
The pride that those same workers felt when the impossible finally was accomplished.

Knocking shops, taverns, traders, fist fights, NCR task masters all could have been staged around Boulder City.
The whole place may be burned out, but the city still is used as vital part of the NCR defense project.
It really could have been fleshed out a little more imo.

Good suggestion. I love those kinds of quests.

i tend to use the storage trunks in the service building at the Black mountains. once the mission is completed you get the keys to all the locked boxes.

Well bolder City is just a dump site where NCR is collecting concrete, so why would any one want to occupy/rebuild it?

As for safe house i think the general store (where the Khan leader is), should be relatively good for a while.

Just a dump site.
You realise even with an efficent, well organised country.
With up to date and plentifull modern extraction, haulage, delivery and time mangement how much effort it takes just to put road salt by the roads.
Or building those roads, or refuse collection to dump sites.
How much effort it takes to build a house of stone, morter, cement, and slate / ceramic roofing tiles.

Take away those it needs even more man power, and places for them to work / live.

Boulder city is the closest city to the dam with easy access, not to mention the only one with the equipment and workforce.
It does not just dump the cement it'll have to haul it from Q Junction, refine it, bag it, take it to the dam in the least, mostly by hand.
It would be a bigger mecca than Novac, and more bustling with activity than NV as it is central to equiping the dams maintanence and defense.
This is even if those trains mentioned are what we assume as trains, and not just brahmin pulled carts on tracks.
