Yeah there is chance that there be a game-mod/map creator because slash has made one before with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory but maybe not with this game because you have to buy it,but Bethesda is not one to say no to mods and things as long as they get there money for the game like Fallout eden creator and for the consoles I think more than likely, don't the maps random them selfs every time (i don't r ember) but still there will DLC regard less

I agree, there will be dlc. map packs, clothing options, and weapons pack would be cool.

There will not be a map creator since every map is actually a campaign mission. Highly doubt it'll happen. DLC is definitely gonna happen though, they'll add missions, clothes, and gadgets, etc.

Doubt there's going to be a lot of mods / maps supported in a game that will most likely rely on persistent characters on a central server so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Sorry to be the nay-sayer, but typically that's for games that are either single player or P2P / Dedicated server hosting.

Of course I could be wrong, but I'm certainly hoping they host the characters centrally. Still though, I suppose it's possible for it to end up as a TF2 style game, though that's not what I was thinking when I saw the videos.

I think they may well expand the current system, all they've shown us so far is container city and some of the airport, hopefully they'll continue to make maps of the rest of the ark..

Exactly what I was thinking. If they were to do dlc, it would be hard to really make "maps" since it's a persistent world. As far as playable content goes, I hope they can expand on the story of the retail game, as well as add more clothing, tats, and possibly even dlc guns and equipment.

They do need a wep/upgrade/skill/clothing pack, and things such as, but I don't know much about the maps? So all of the game takes place in Container city, the airport? I mean, when you watch the trailers you only see two options? Is that it?

I think that community can make maps for Brink ^^. Splash Damage was Modding Studio before, and it knows what good community can do :-).

I think it would be a good idea to add the custom maps because thats one of the only reasons I kept playing games like far cry 2 and halo 3.

But is it built into the game? I love creating my own custom maps and stuff, but I don't plan on buying anything. And Reach's ForgeWorld should satisfy my creationlust anyway.

As much as i love community content, I dont think there will be a map editor. Not only are the multiplayer maps actual missions from the campaign as previously mentioned, users making their perfect for
the objectives system, the bot waypoints, SMART and all the other things would be near impossible, and there would be very few maps made by the community that suit the game just right. Your image of a game is based off pretty much everything you do in that game. And a bad community map doesnt have a good image. 1 good community map in 10 also, doesnt give a good image.

I'm very sure that there will be a map editor because as far as I know there's a program that is run to determine AI paths that also determines SMART.
that and games like Oblivion(Bethesda but not SD) had one too so I don't really see why not in Brink(different Studio but the Publishers seem open to editing)

We know that Splash Damage is using various tools to create Brink, including EditWorld, the map editor used in most of their previous games. The only question is whether they will release them to the public or not. ;)

...an entirely new toolset with tighter integration into the engine was written to aid development. It contains heavily updated versions of tools people might be familiar with, such as our level editor EditWorld, as well as entirely new animation and scripting functionality.

I stand corrected. That sounds like they will most likely release it.

This is pure speculation of course since I've never used the EditWorld editor but it sounds likely that we'd be able to script goals and events with relative ease for our maps. I imagine creating custom cutscenes might be difficult but it's definitely possible to create high quality maps without those.

Splash Damage's first game W:ET used GTKRadiant for map/level making, ET:QW was the first to use EditWorld, Brink uses a upgraded EditWorld

In the end, all I care about is added content (at least maps) whether it's made by the community or comes in as a DLC. Either way, lots of maps keep me playing video games.

The things that can be done for dlc are massive, this is an entire city we got here. Also we've only seen the slums (container city) and the airport. Thing about it you got the shopping district, power plant(s), comunications hub, parks well you get the idea.
