Can you officially join any factions? : Fallout: New Vegas

I know you can become best buddies with a faction, but can you officially become a member? I know I saw an option to ask the King to join, but I didn't want to so I never asked. The thing is I don't know if he automatically would reject you or you could actually join. I want to join the Khans. ;(

BoS, Kings, and the Khans however even those are less about being members and more just RPG events.

Well if you "disguise" yourself, you seem like the faction you are in to the others.

Yeah, I've been wanting to legitimately join the NCR, but can't seem to find any way to. It sorta svcks that I can't.

I'd join the Brotherhood of Steel, but I've already buddied up with the NCR in the hopes of becoming a Ranger (although I feel kinda guilty having killed a Ranger for the Brotherhood. I had no choice, but still). It'll kinda piss me off if I can't at least wear their armor without it being considered a disguise.

if you've completed the brotherhoods quests and not put hardin in, macnamara is willing for a truce against the legion if your with the NCR

Huh. I guess I'll just join up with the BoS after-all, then. If I can't be a legit ranger, then, [censored] it.

New Question:
Alright on the wiki it says you can become the leader of the Khans after completing We Are Legion. I used the console to complete that, and no new dialogue came up. (I used the console because I kind of butchered the quest giver) I also tested using the console to get the best rep with both the Khans and Legion, and still nothing new. Can anyone help me..?

There is no joining of any faction, not in the way of raising through the ranks and being best friends with anyway.
You join in name only, no dialogue, no kudos, no gifts ( shame ) and no golden haired women throwing themselves at you ( pity ).
It is a way to make you king without actually putting any effort into introducing the duties.

Sorry, if you're asking for help about the quest.
Then did you at least talk to Papa Khan before killing him, while you had a high rep with the Khans.

As you need to A be liked or above with that faction.
Then Papa has to say you're his succesor.
Then you kill him.
Then you talk to regis.

Also using the console that way can cause a glitch with quests.
Faction rep should not, but quest stage console commands may / will.
