Continuation of Fallout 3?

Post » Sun Jan 18, 2009 4:38 pm

I got this game for Xmas and popped it in yesterday for the first time. I created my character and tried to make him as close to the one I had in FO3 as possible. Same name, ethnicity. The only thing I did differently was added facial hair to make him look a little older. As I started to play I looked in my Pip-Boy status and noticed the character had the same limb (left foot) missing that I lost in FO3 due to severe RAD poisoning I incurred during the mission you get from the store owner in Megaton.

My characters left foot is a stub inb Fallout 3 due to mutation and it stayed that way from Megaton on. I did not die at the end because I sent the girl in to activate the purifier. I wanted to play the Broken Steel questline and still wander the wasteland after I finished the story. Was this intentional on the developers part, or is everyone missing their left foot? Does the game read your FO3 save file and continue the story? There were also a few NPC's in Goodsprings claiming they had heard of me.

No maybe it's a bug or something but the game doesnt read old saves. They NPCs say they heard that Doc Mitchell is patching you up.

My my...

We do have an active imagination; don't we?

Might I suggest that you contribute to this forum? http://http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/42-fallout-artwork-and-fan-fiction/

Please tell me if you are serious. I'll try to help you to the best of my ability. I'm not a doctor, but I play one in FONV. :wavey:

Fallout new Vegas is set 80 years after Fallout 3, and unless you are a robot or ghoul a cross country trip is very difficult and the stub I have no idea what that is.

Oh :touched: .

No the foot is like that because the PIP BOY image is two dimensional.
To represent him walking they just removed the foot and left it looking like a stub.
It's not that he has no foot, rather that if they showed it he would look like he was standing still.

If the image was just like the character you built, it's toes woul be pointed down, just above the ground.

I'll try to take a picture of the screen. I'm not making this up, and I know what i'm seeing. It's a stub like I had in FO3.

Yes it is a stub, but it always has been.

Here's the PIP BOY image from FO3 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pip-Boy_3000 .
It's not because you lost the foot, it never was on the picture any picture.
It's because it's a walking two dimensional image.

Play FO3 again, right at the start before Megaton before any rads, the picture will look the same.

Yeah I just noticed, but still it will take many years to make a cross country if you are human with the current climate of the game.

This is one of the beautiful things about FONV. It IS a continuation of FO3 and your character IS the Lone Wanderer 3 (or 4?) years later (and relocated) IF YOU SAY SO.

Hell your character can be a cryongenically thawed George W Bush if that is your decree.

Your rules.
