Really confused about coop/multiplayer/singleplayer integrat

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 1:11 am

Hi.

Ive searched all over the forum, watched a million videos a million times and im still confused about one thing. If i play multiplayer, will that advance my singleplayer game? because i think a lot of the story is lost in multiplayer. And if so, can i go back and play previous missions in multiplayer?

Yes.Basically its borderlands except like 9 s*** loads better. If you go tear it up in single player you might gain half a level. Lets say your freind invites you, you will still have the half of a level and if you gain experince you will level up.

i understand the co op but im worried about the multiplayer side. I want to play multiplayer without losing out on playing it alone or in co op. Say i wanna play a bit of multiplayer but my friend who im playing through co op with doesnt want me to advance in the story isnt online. That poses a problem.

i believe there are some basic objective maps, aside from the story for multiplayer

all rewards carry through all games online or offline, multiplayer, single player, co-op, whatever
you can build up offline and carry everything through to multiplayer online or lan, it's you or at least that character

The point of seamless sp,coop,mp is it's exactly the same for all three. The story isn't necessarily linear and the little clips that play before and after a map in sp will play in mp too so you don't "lose" anything. Also note you can play any map on either team whenever you want.

You can choose to play in "pure" multiplayer mode as you do in any other multiplayer FPS, and you will play the same maps as in campaign mode but won't see any cinematics so you won't know the story behind missions, etc. This way you can resume later the campaign (however you will carry the experience gained with the character)

(I think ^_^ )

no matter what you play, alone, co-op, or multiplayer you are advancing your character. the only difference is the AI. when alone, everyone except you is AI, in co-op everyone except you and your friend(s) are AI, in multiplayer no one is AI. Its still the same story and missions, they might be a little out of order though

Yes... but you can always go back to whatever mission your coop friend is on.

What you need to realize than there is no difference between single player, coop, and multiplayer. There is a campaign and free modes. If you playing campaign you choose one side and play through it. For example you start playing though it alone then your buddy gets online and asks to going you. He hops into the game and now its coop. Get tired of playing with boths you can open it so anyone can join.

I suppose this is a good feature, but correct me if im wrong theres like "freemode" multiplayer where you can play with real enemies and friendlies without the story progressing?

Also, the enemy team in multiplayer would have to lose for the campaign to continue

Remember, it's 2 different Campaigns being played at the same time, not just yours.
"If you’re trying to play through a storyline in “proper order” in Brink’s Campaign mode, the game will just work the way you’d expect it. If you fail your mission, you’ll try it again, no matter if you’re playing single player, co-op, or competitive multiplayer. We’re not going to force anyone to play all the missions in order, though. Brink is like a book… when you buy it, we’re not going to try to stop you from turning to the last page and seeing how the story ends. We’ll present it to you in the proper order, but if you want to skip a chapter, or play in any order you like, go right ahead. Our story is written such that you can jump in at any point and understand what you need to know. Lastly, if you’re playing Brink multiplayer in Free Play mode and happen to lose the match, you’ll just move on to the next map in the rotation – much like you’d expect from any other multiplayer game.”
