Why does the game always migrate hosts after the match?!!

Post » Sun Feb 15, 2009 6:28 pm

Been noticing this a lot. A friend of mine has really good fiber internet and gets host a good bit but it will only last for a game or 2 then it will migrate to someone else while in the lobby. Makes no sense. Everyone under him has 3 bars and the game runs great. Why does it decide to migrate to a laggier host while in the lobby?

I've noticed that when it migrates during a game, it never works and I'm always by myself in the game...

Its the way these games work. From what I understand most P2P games pick the host in this order.

1)Find a player everyone can connect to
2) More than one player find the one with the lowest average ping to everyone
3)Bandwidth is usually never considered.

Its **** but true. So many times I will be playing a online game, it picks an awesome host and there are a few open slots. Game finishes with a few slots still open, game returns to lobby and *laggy scrict nat player* joins the game. Bad connection player cant connect to current host, migrate host so everyone can connect. Everyone suffers instead of the player with the **** connection.

Yeah, it's happened to me quite a few times. Also, the migrating during the game is an issue as well. While migrating often, I can't connect because of the **** new host when I'm plugged directing into my router.
