CryEngine 3 might not even be capable of using DX10/11

Post » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:28 am

I don't know about you, but I'm sure as heck getting that vibe. We have seen NO DX10/11 footage in any of the trailers, or prerelease Crytek sponsored game footage. The Demo only had DX9. The Beta only had DX9. The Retail version only has DX9.

Nvidia has taken Crysis 2 off of the list of DX11 capable games.

There has been no official statement saying Crysis 2 will even get patched to DX11. A few devs hinted at a patch after release supplying the game with more graphics features for the PC, but none of those were official statements. And the statements/interviews I've been able to find on the matter either say nothing about DX11 or try to beat around the bush.

Crytek has been dead silent on the issue.

We have absolutely no proof the Cryengine 3 can actually do DX11. All we have are ages old statements from Crytek saying Crysis 2 will push PC's to their limit and be the best looking game period. Obviously those were lies. Lies by the CEO I might add. So that gives me no reason to think DX10/11 was ever even considered when it came to Crysis 2 and the Cryengine 3.

If Crytek is willing to lie in direct statements made by the CEO, there's absolutely no way we can even think of trusting something they won't even comment on.

Well, NVidia pulling C2 from their DX11 list says it all IMO. This game is DOA. Don't expect any fixes. I wouldn't be surprised if Crytek dissolved tomorrow.

Is DX11 really that important, what we need is the Sandbox3. That would make me happy.

I just want to feel like I paid for a fully-featured game. The session-based servers are a joke, and work exactly like a black ops server.

CryEngine 3 is fully capable of using DirectX 11, I believe they use DirectX 11 in their tech demos that you can watch on YouTube.

It's most likely lacking DirectX 11 because Crysis 2 looks like a console port in many ways.

All the tech demo's I've seen on youtube, have employed effects that could be done in DX10 or DX9. I've seen nothing DX11 exclusive coming from the Cryengine 3.

Stop with those rumors already. There is an official statement about this:

Regarding DirectX 11 support, which would allow for more advanced graphical effects, Camarillo said, "Crysis 2 will support DirectX 11 but we'll talk more about that in the future. There's an announcement coming soon about that."

Actually, there is another rumor floating around the internet

there is a video with nvidia showing off a "top secret project" they are working on(gtx 590 no doubt)

with crysis 2 running in the background

people started speculating nvidia wants crytek to hold back the dx 11 option until they announced the d*** thing

i'm not buying crysis 2 for the graphics, but i think that if they promissed dx11 and many other features they have to deliver it
if pc gamers would complain about every game that is a console port, 95% of the games released since xbox360/ps3 released would be "just a console port"

its too late to complain, all the reviews are giving 90s; they'll make money and not learn any lessons, the only thing you can do is beg friends not to buy the game
