+3 Agility glitch?

Post » Mon Feb 23, 2009 10:01 am

Okay so I've been trying to search on here and the Wiki to find something on this, but I can't find anything. On my Pip-Boy on the EFF part of the Status section it reads

Casual Clothing AGL +3
Head Gear PER +1
Merchant Outfit Barter +5

My character's wearing a Bandana and Roving Trader Outfit. Even when I take both of them off, I still have that Casual Clothing AGL +3. I can put on Ranger Combat and Patrol Armor and it still gives me the Casual Clothing boost. I'm not complaining about it at all. In fact I'd like to figure out what I did to get this to happen. I've played through multiple times and have never had this happen. I did however change up my usual build for this character, focusing on Energy Weapons and Unarmed. If anyone does in fact know what causes this, I would love to know. If not, I'll list my level, SPECIAL, and Perks on here in case someone can find a clue or the reason behind it.

Level 25

S 5
P 8 (+)
E 9
C 2
I 10
A 10 (+)
L 9

Abominable (2)
Adamantium Skeleton
Agility Implant
Beautiful Beatdown
Better Criticals
Bug Stomper (2)
Charisma Implant
Coin Operator
Educated
Endurance Implant
Entomologist
Finesse
Ghost Hunter
Intelligence Implant
Intense Training
Light Touch
Lord Death
Luck Implant
Perception Implant
Piercing Strike
Ranger Takedown
Sierra Madre Martini
Small Frame
Strength Implant
Strong Back
Sub-Dermal Armor
Toughness (2)
Vigilant Recycler

Like I said, I'm at a loss here. I don't know what's causing it, but would like to figure out why. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a Mod. Many of the clothing and stat tweak mods can affect SPECIALS.

Since you have Dead Money, I'd guess it has something to do with that...unless, as stated, you're using mods, which could do all kinds of things.

Armor only takes damage if the attack is in excess of your DT. Go into melee with a deathclaw then check your armors condition and tell me how it faired.

I'm on the 360, so I don't have any mods. When I got back from work, I turned it on and it's still there. I reset my Xbox twice and it seems to be permanent. I'm not complaining by any means though. I'd just really like to know how it happened. I noticed it when I returned from the Sierra Madre and was finished getting all my loot to my shack.

Did you drink the Martini or anything when you left back to the Wasteland?

Sometimes stat boosts can be permanant if you take something then leave then enter a new Cell.

I didn't drink any Sierra Martinis before I left.
Spoiler
I went into the vault, dropped everything I had except for 6 Gold Bars, a few rolls of Duct Tape, and a Laser Pistol. Talked to Elijah, pumped myself full of drugs, and dealt with him. Then ran my naked ass out of there with some Gold Bars, Duct Tape, and a Gauss Rifle.

The Chems I took were, Buffout, Med-X, Jet, and Psycho. None of those boost Agility though. I didn't notice it until I'd dropped off all the loot I'd gotten.

Okay. Here's my problem: I can find no reference to 'Casual Clothing' anywhere. There are no listed Perks, nor is there an article of clothing that I can find in the Wiki. This is why I jumped to the conclusion that you had Mods (completely glossed over that you were on the X-Box.)

My suspicion is that it has something to do with Dead Money, since it has not cropped up before in the forums. Maybe moving this to the DLC forum will get better results.

There is an engine bug that when clothing with perks is forceably removed, the perk becomes permanent. It happens a lot in Oblivion and I have heard of it happening in FO.

You are lucky this is a positive glitch.

I think it has something to do with Dead Money too. I just don't know exactly what I did to get it to happen. I took a pic and posted it on ImageShack. http://img209.imageshack.us/i/aglr.jpg/ I might start up a new character this weekend, attempt to get to a high enough level to do Dead Money, and see if I can't figure out how this happened.

Casual Clothing over-arcs several clothes: Two I can off of the top of my head are Pre-War Causalwear and Pre-War Formalwear. There may be more than those two, I can't remember. It may also include the rest of the Pre-War clothes.

And yes, he is definitely lucky this isn't one of those save-breaking glitches.

Well, you could do the Ranger Takedown, which you back up and punch your enemy without a scratch on your armor.

Very true. There are several items with 'Casual' in the name. But there is no item I am aware of actually called "Casual Clothing."

Now I could see if there was such a Perk that would grant you +3 Agility whenever you were wearing any clothing considered to be 'Casual'; but I know of no such Perk. the kicker is, however, he is not wearing any casual wear. He is wearing the Roving Trader Outfit (oddly called the Merchant Outfit on the Stats page.)

@Iq PROFESSOR pI: Run through your list of Perks and see if anything jumps out. If the Stats Page refers to the Roving Trader Outfit by another name, it may be doing the same thing for Casual Clothing.

Should of made it clearer: Even though, there's numerous casual clothing with different names, they all are categorized under 'Casual Clothing' on your Pip-boy, which is where he got his stats off from. So Pre-War Spring Outfit is under 'Casual Clothing' as well as Pre-War Parkstroller Outfit is under 'Casual Clothing' on the status tab of your pip-boy.

I'm not sure how that glitch happened though. I know the weights of some casual clothings are completely messed up, some are 5 and 10 lbs for pete's sake, but all of them only have a +1 AGL... It's not like he rapidly switched between 3 different sets of clothes and they somehow bugged on top of one another... right? That sounds more and more like the Chinese Stealth Suit headwear exploit in FO3 so I doubt that's the case.

Thanks for explaining that. I never wear that stuff, so I never realized it gave any perks at all.

I think I figured it out. The guy who posted about the old Chinese Stealth Suit infinite Head Gear made me remember something.
Spoiler
In Dead Money there are these vending machines that allow you to buy various goods to help you out. You can also return certain items if you have found the right code. These items include Pre-war Clothing. Now I just pick up as many as I can and turn them in for more Chips. I remember accidentally turning in a couple that I was currently wearing.
Since Pre-war clothing is actually considered "Casual Clothing" and it provides a +1 to Agility, I think that's what caused it. If I'm right, then it may be possible to get even more than +3. If anyone is currently in the Sierra Madre or getting ready to do it, I'd like you to at least try this theory out and see if it works.
