PS3 multiplayer is "$HIT"

Post » Mon Feb 23, 2009 10:07 pm

Well, with all the lag and connection problems i guess all the people who have complained about the P2P servers on KZ3 were probably just unable to cope with the fact that they botched up a dedicated server system, and just never thought to assume it really was dedicated. I know i didnt lol but, then KZ3 is living proof that even with dedicated servers, your game can still svck bawls. nuff said lol

yes dedicated is no doubt the better way to go. but it costs money. I think, if nothing else, crytek was reluctant to invest that much into a game they werent sure would port over to console very well. which it did and didnt. it needs work, which is hopefully an easy task and will be handled soon, but i think the epic nature of the game is pushing even the PS3 to its limits. makes me wonder how the hell xbox could even read the disc lol i wonder how the graphics suffer on it in comparison? seeing as how its not a true native HD system.

I have to agree with the OP.It's too much of a twitch shooter that gives an overwhelming advantage to who ever has the best connection.

I don't know if t his is the case or not,but is this game running P2P,because if it is,then that's the obvious reason why it lags to all hell.Really wish they would've run this game on dedicated servers.

Makes me scared for Brink on PS3.

P.S.

The single player campaign is epic.

i honestly didnt see much that interested me in the campaign. some interesting scenes, and a cool ending (though short...) but when i think "epic" i think of God of War. and this games SP story was nowhere near epic, and the gameplay, while interesting and fun, was kinda nerfed by kind of wacky enemy AI. The aliens more so than the humans. They just werent very aggressive, and didnt always seem to have their **** together when attacking lol i dunno. My personal opinion is that the multi kicks ass. If fixed, it would really serve well as PS3s version of a halo style shooter. Fun, competitive, fast paced, and well balanced.

Damn dude your $hit does rock! Maybe just bad luck? I've had some problems here and there but nothing as bad as that.

try leaving a game you get lag in.and go to a new one..i had the same problems (now and again.)and i just leave..you might get some crap from players who think your crap at crysis..even though you know its lags the reason your leaving..but hey..its better to leave .look for a new game than to stay in a match which is unplayable.this might help..good luck.

the only real lag ive noticed is the occasional "teleport" of an opponent a few feet from where he was. This usually results in him killing me lol but it doesnt happen that often. I do, however, experience a lot of reduced frame rate. Especially in the crash site mode, because the animation for the crash site with all the smokey sprites and **** just seriously weigh the game down. That, and i think combining the entire 12 person game into one confined area might be killing it too. Most other game modes keep the players at a bit of a distance from eachother. But in crash site, the entire game is going after one objective. lots of gunfire, lots of grenades, explosions, bullet shells, etc... just lots of anims. Which is why i say maybe its pushing the PS3s limits. if its NOT... the crytek has an even bigger problem.. and the game needs to be tweaked even further.

Worst FPS - When there's the giant laser thing firing close to you and you're in a gunfight, both players are just basically stuck struggling to get aim on one another.

The graphics are UNBEARABLE. I know I'm gunna get roasted for this post, but sh*t, I see so many people posting "best graphics on the console yet," What the hell have you guys played? Resistance 1? BlackOps' FPS + Graphics blow this game out of the water with 9v9, 6 more people on larger maps with dogs, helis, and artillery strikes.
I now also need to ask, how did a game like GranTurismo5 pull epic graphics + 3D out of their behinds and crytek with EA can't even pull out 1/8 of the quality? I understand GT5 had been developed for something like a century, but damn, they really pushed the envelope with their GFX and crytek can't even release a native 1080p game? Some are telling us to switch the tv to 720p to get the most out of it, even when it's BELOW 720p.

I'm a serious console gamer, and I play on a 50" Plasma with almost nil response time, and yet I still find struggles with reload, and Aiming down sight.

sigh, I'll keep playing, but I don't know how long this game is going to be on my shelf.

PS: The Lag is terrible. I'm playing over a Fiber optic connection with only my PS3 on, and it's just complete BS.I have open nat type and last night, I logged somewhere around 8 hours of gameplay (rank 18) and most of the time I was forwarded to a NORWAY HOST? WTF? and then PHILIPINES, and then SWEDEN - this is where I turned my PS3 off.

There have been instances where sessions would quit out while loading, and rare instances (one, for now) where the screen would go black while loading, and I would have to reset my PS3 by throwing the switch.

I get a funny feeling that the Xbox 360 version of Crysis 2 runs great, but overall my MP experience with Crysis 2 has been okay. Not ultra-super-epic win, but not horrible, either. It's different from COD, definitely, and after playing Killzone 3 I was full of fail when playing Crysis 2 MP for the first time (Dammit; L1 doesn't melee! Dammit; R3 doesn't ADS!). But for the most part, Crysis 2 MP is alright.

As for Internet connectivity, well, I'm running on DSL. Hopefully that fiber-optic sh!t will come here soon so I can improve my connection.....of course that'll be DSL as well (learning experience; didn't know FiO came in both Cable and DSL, teehee).

I think they may have laxed matchmaking right now so that ppl can actually find games while the populace builds up who own the game. For instance, release day you probably wouldnt find a match if your matchmaking was set to local 1000 mile radius or whatever. Perhaps they already intended to change that once there was enough people playing. What svcks is, with all the problems, they may never have as large of a group as any other FPS... they killed their own game by being lazy, and trying to push out an unfinished project to meet deadlines. When i think of this scenario i think of god of war 3. It kept getting pushed back for like 2 **** years. They kept finding bugs and fixing them. but when it released....... i dare someone to bring up an issue about GOW3... the game was damn near flawless... and yes, while microsofts pvssy ass tactics buying out games to make up for their lack of desire to produce a valuable system is definitely apparent on just about every hyped multi platform game, something tells me if it is better, its not by much... because even PC is having major issues, and thats their biggest fan base. which is also microsoft.

Let us be serious right now...
I have made a list of things that are PROBABLY not going to be fixed...

P2P Hosts - regional matchmaking MAY be implemented, depending if enough people purchase this game, and there's a better probability of getting struck by lightning than for crytek to invest in servers for Crysis 2 for consoles - especially PSN which is currently free

FPS Rates - It's gonna stay the same, it's how the game is coded

Lack of 1080p - as discussed in many other threads, 1080p is coded, and cannot be patched - like above
