Im relatively new to forums of any kind, so im still trying to figure out some things. I have a question regarding pre existing topics in a forum, several times i've posted a topic that has apparently already been posted, and several times i've seen other people do it as well. My question is if a topic was posted awhile ago and is 50 pages back, is there a way to find it? Cause theres no way we're expected to scroll a bunch of pages back in hopes of stumbling across the topic i want to post about. Side question as well, what's up with all the snotty comments when someone posts something thats been posted already?
This is probably something i should know, but like i said im new to forums and i just don't want to keep posting topics that already exist if theres a convenient way for me to find the original ones.
If a topic is that old, then there is no problem with making a new one.
If its something that is on the first two or three pages, then it might be best to use one of the existing ones. The search doesn't always work great, and there are limits to what you can search, so sometimes there isn't anything you can do. If someone does link an earlier thread, just use the report button and a mod will close it.
You can report snotty comments as well, since according to the forum rules, people shouldn't be doing that.
