Crysis 2 First thoughts

Post » Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:40 am

First off would like to point out that I have watched all the E3 videos featuring Crysis 2 and was a massive fan of the first crysis and warhead. I Got a great PC to play both of them, and don't have a problem with Crytek incoporating consoles into their buisnewss strategy. However I do have a problem with **** voice acting, which in my opinion brings down the whole game to a crumble. I determine the quality of a game by graphics, voice acting, gameplay and generally how fun it is to play. So far all i've seen of crysis 2 is a guy running around with a rocket launcher taking out a rampaging alien covered in metal shielding for one reason or another, some guys shouting at the nanosuit guy to get in the jeep with little to no urgency at all and might I say a horrible hud.

I'm not one to troll and bich, and I'm defintely not doing it intentionally, but I think Crytek need to read up on this post and sort a few things out if they can to make this game as big of a success as possible, otherwise im going to be gutted if this turns out to be a mess, because trust me, If the console guys don't like the game first time around, they will ditch it. This isn't COD where they carry on playing and wait around for a patch, this is a new game on the console market, one many console guy haven't had any experience off, and one that needs to be introduced and designed with the most jaw dropping features and scenes to make people think, yeah this game was awesome, and hopefully It can become as big on consoles as it was on PC.

Feel free to leave some of your own ideas or complaints, and hopefully this thread can be bumped.

Crytek have done there best to make the game to everyone's best specs, in the end they have opted for a few controversial decisions like the moving HUD. But the majority is accepted and liked by all. imo if they went and did the game with no controversial decisions then they wouldn't have a memorising game.

I like the new hud and we haven't seen very much voice acting. It is far too early to tell these things. People need to wait

I dont like the new HUD.

And the voice acting seems a bit off from what i was expecting. The level of emotion just isnt exactly where it is. When the guy says "oh **** its coming down", he should be more emotional. Ever watch 9/11 videos? Take that, and voice act to that example. Other than that it seems okay, just a bit more emotion needed IMO. And i really dont like the new Nanosuit voice acting. I prefer the epic deep "MAXIMUM STRENGTH" sound. :)

The shaking hud is extremely out of place. It doesn't fit the natural walking/running pace of the character about 80% of the time and it's just distracting. It's not like your head is bouncing up and down at a rate of 500 bobs a minute.

Like what I've seen so far, what I do miss, however, is a bit of information on the story. They say the second game takes place a few months ( how long?) after the first game, and that it'll continue in New York. That's all good and well, but, does anyone know yet (not too much if a spoiler i guess) if we'll get to continue the story of the first game? As you all know, Prophet, Psycho and Nomad ventures back to the Island at the very end of the first game...

Crysomeness! :D

I don't care about the HUD as i always turn off the HUD on games i play. Also i really like the movement and way things react. I guess it's the must-have for the newest FPS games right now. I'm sick of how older games have this quick, sharp movement, sounds, animations, etc. Those games are good too but we can't enjoy it as much as these :P

Now the suit powers isn't really clear for me.. They mixed them together (and thats fine) but now we only got like 2 modes for it or something? Or we got like we can pick 2 diffrent modes at the same time, like i pick armor and strenght or strenght and speed?

I jus wanted to say, this all looks so good, but I cant help again reading all the stuff here and elswhere, about who got better graphics, and all the hype bout console differnces and pc base stuff also about pirate stuff, like piracy exists it because this dont and thatwont and so-on,
piracy is mainly cos ppl dont want to spend da coinage. simple, not many other valid reasons just dont wanna spend money.-- console v pc, is a matter of preference really, thats in my view, I buy my games as soon as from store, I play my Games on what I am comfortable with, and cant wait for Crysis 2 - Maximum Game On -
