Recorded that with fraps and had it rendered by Windows Live Movie Maker. Don't try to record with the resolution at 1920X1200 or else you'll get black bars in the recorded video.

why would you ever want to render a video in Windows Live Movie Maker? the quality it ends up with is horrible, but I guess it's better then nothing!

And yes Fraps is definetly the way to go if you want to capture a video, and imo the best rendering / Editing program is sony vegas, get those 2 and you are ready to go!

this is one of my vid's in SP with 1080 res recorded with fraps and edited in vegas, enjoy :)

My settings in fraps is:
Capture at 60fps (to maintain a decent gameplay FPS)
Half Size
and I dont lock the FPS simply because it isnt needed :)

When I use Sony Vegas, for some reason the whole program freezes for a while anytime I select a video that I want to open in order to edit it. How much memory do you have on your computer and what OS are you running to be using Sony Vegas? You probably don't have the problem I'm having. I can still use it but the freezing any time I try to add a file is pretty annoying.

Windows 7 64 bit and 4GB of memory.

The quality isn't horrible. When I set both of our videos to 1080p they look the same quality wise. On 360p your video looks better though.

Hmm that sounds wierd, we have the same computer specs so maybe its an old version of vegas?
I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 (yea I know overkill name) and it works just fine without any lag issues.

And yeah I shouldnt really say horrible since I checked both of our vids in 1080p and didnt see much of a diffrence, I think the big diffrence is the filesize if you go into movie maker since in 1080p res my vids is around 30mb per min, I'd guess yours are a bit bigger, but if you got space for it then it wont really be a problem :)

I like transcoding with Handbrake. Lots of control of the output settings and it's fast! threaded well it uses 12 threads of my 6 core CPU to 100% when working. (don't use this app if you have bad cooling, lol)

The file I get after frapsing is AVI, after doing the editing etc I still use AVI but as said in above post the file size is greatly reduced, 1080p HD is 30mb/min so 5 min videos is only 150mb big at a great quality.

I have version 10a Build 388 and I have these problems. You're updated to 10c?

FRAPS *Is* free, you just gotta know how to get it (no, not piracy)

MSI afterburner has fraps embedded into it, fps counter and screen recording
