Tactical Reload

Please add tactical reload. Here's a Wikipedia article explaining it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_reload

Basically, this means retaining magazines that you may have fired only 4-5 shots out of when you reload instead of throwing precious ammunition away. This partially used magazine is then kept in rotation while you always have the magazine with the highest number of rounds in it.

As Alcatraz is someone who is supposed Marine Force Recon trained, you'd think he would know to do this.

im confused. During multiplayer if i reload with 24 rounds left in my weapon, do those rounds get discarded or does my character magicially refill the magazines to full?

it would be kind of neat if the rounds were discarded....make it harder i suppose. but that just means you have to scrounge for weapons on the ground more.

however i doubt it would happen as they even removed the whole arm grabbing weapons animation.

Currently, if you start with 30 round magazine, shoot 6 rounds (24 left), and press reload, you would have a new 30 round mag in your weapon, but completely discarding an only slightly used (still 24 rounds left) magazine.

Sure, it makes it harder, but it's needless and makes no sense. No soldier would throw away magazines with ammo still in it like that.

Isn't it with all games that if you reload even with a barely used magazine, the bullets don't get discarded but instead just 'return' your reserve ammo. Try crunching the numbers while reloading, see if you're losing ammo, if not, then tactical reloading is useless because games magically transfer the bullets to your reserve anyway.

I am not in the military but I am an avid firearms shooter. I know for a fact that you would ABSOLUTELY NEVER reload with rounds still in a magazine. It just makes no sense in any type of tactical or self defense situation. And when you do reload in a real situation you arent throwing away empty mags because they cost money lol. As for the game, Ive noticed perfect attention to detail in regards to reloads. Slides lock back on empty handguns, rifles have to be charged to chamber a round when empty and inserting a new mag, its rare and crytek did homework. Most impressively I think is when you reload a rifle with rounds left in the mag and fire a single shot from the new mag, your round count on the HUD stays at full. That means that you shot the round that was already chambered from the previous mag. Seriously impressive detail that I dont think COD even has. Anyway lol, my guess is that when you reload with rounds left in a mag that it is discarded based on how often I run out of ammo and how many ammo dumps are scattered around. But Iam not positive.

I also shoot. While I'm no "tactical expert", reloading while there are still rounds in your magazine is a widely taught tactic. A simple search on youtube will give you these videos:

It isn't about the magazines, though some can make an argument for retaining magazines as well. It's about ammunition that you can still use being discarded.

Why are you discarding ammo that you can still shoot??? It is FAR quicker and MUCH more practical to empty a mag, load a new mag and hit a bolt release/pull a charging handle, slingshot a side/ w/e depending on the weapon than shooting 5 shots and reloading. You are making things more complicated because now you have an added reload to make to shoot rounds you should have already shot. You do that with a couple mags and now you dont know how many rounds are in each mag. 10? 27? 1? I find it highly unlikely that this is something that is taught to give one a tactical advantage.

***watched those links and see how it could be advantageous in a specific situation but stand by my above statement. You could get caught doing this when you think its safe and be caught off guard and possibly killed because of an unnecessary reload.***

Yes but like in C2 if you run out of rounds in a firefight i'd imagine you're pretty ****. I'd waste a mag to make ssure im going in prepared.

Ammo are not thrown away when reloading - If you got a 30 round magazine and 30 spare bullets, shoot 6 rounds (24 left in the current magazine) and reload, you will have a 30 round magazine and 24 spare bullets.

This is pointless because like every FPS now a days, if you reload with bullets in the magazine, you keep one in the chamber and unrealistically "throw away" a magazine and load a new one. However, you don't lose those 24 good bullets, they are placed back into your total amount of ammo. I thought this was obvious.

i know that the Mike switches batteries. so if you have a ful one, and drain 50 energy, and then reload, you have a 500 battery magazine and a 450 battery reload.

not sure about the rest, but i believe the +1 above your current ammo displays your "discarded" ammo
