Classic Mode - meh

Post » Fri Mar 27, 2009 6:02 pm

So I have been waiting to play classic mode (without the suit) since level 1. I just finished my first match and I have to say I was a little deflated (not jut because we lost). The gameplay is slow and somewhat tedious. The maps were designed for vertical movement and the possibility to avoid conflict. In classic mode, once your spotted it's pretty much the end. This brings up cloak (which I hated until I could recognize it) and the difference it makes in the original modes. Cloak allows players that more cautious by nature to "come out in the open". In classic mode we are right back at the old "defending a part of the map" (hiding in a corner or behind a bush). Also, without the suit the holder of the high ground (which is a game tactic) has a serious advantage being there are limited ways to access the location without being able to power jump . The weapon damage is the same with or without the suit, so the pace of the kills is no faster.

Since I don't have any regard for KD (or skills to back it up), I much prefer the ability to use the game to its full potential - jump, run, slide, kick etc versus just sneaking around (very limited sprint) looking at corners. Without the suit - Classic mode is just another FPS with some new maps. IMO.

Havent played classic yet but I get what you're saying. Without the suit it becomes just like every other shooter. I do like that you can still grasp ledges so that does give you little bit more mobility than other shooters. Would have been better if could still slide though. Then you could atleast have a chance of moving from cover to cover with some chance of success.

I haven't tried Classic yet. Try Pro mode if you want some sort of in between action and strategy while having the nanosuit at your disposal.

I find it odd that they even included a classic mode, I don't I know anyone who would pick up a futuristic shooter with the Nano suit technology, to then play a classic gametype.

If that's your fancy I would personally suggest Call of Duty or Battlefield etc.

This game excels because of it's Nano suit, you're not doing it justice if you play modes that exclude this.

Maybe some sort of SP style of game as MP; there's 15 players without a suit guarding objectives while one nano suit dude - difference from assault would be that the nano guy can choose a custom class he premade - basically a full geared soldier - or maybe some sort of Hunt mode, chase the Goliath. The Goliath with the most frags wins the game or w/e. Bah, I'm offtopic. Give me a rock to hide under :o
