Why console gamers need to respect our opinion

Post » Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:39 am

Imagine if you bought a game on the understanding you can use it with PSMOVE (maybe you even got a PSMove specifically for it) and then when you get it home it doesn't work with move and not only that, the developers knew it wouldn't support move weeks ago but they just didn't tell you.

Now Imagine PSMOVE Costs 3 times as much as it does.

This is exactly the situation with this game not supporting DX11 GPU's at the launch. Now do you see why people are upset?

I myself was disappointed when I heard that Crysis 2 is to be released with Dx9. When I got the game and checked the system specs posted at the back hoping that it will be changed but sadly it wasnt and now that i'm playing it.... still a little disappointed but at the very least the game delivers.

Dx9 for Crysis 2 is good but it could have been better if it's with Dx11. I'm just here like the others hoping that Crytek / EA would at least hear us who wishes to see Crysis 2 under the Dx11 environment.

Console gamers will probably never understand pc gamers or our opinions, that's the sad fact. PC gamers typically like to push digital boundaries, console gamers just want to be fed the illusion that what they have is cool and cutting edge, and as long as millions of others agree thats fine for them.

I'm a PC Gamer, but I don't think DX11 is all it's cracked up to be. DX10 was pretty useless IMO and a well done DX9 game ran better and looked better than a DX10 game, I have yet to see evidence that DX11 in real world implementation would officially make DX9 and DX10 redundant.

I'd much prefer companies to get the most out of DX10 rather than start from square one with yet another DX implementation. But in an ideal world, companies would get a braincell or two and use OpenGL instead, much better framework.

You make it sound like you upgraded your entire system for this game and this game only. You're fine with getting 15 FPS on BLOPs or BFBC2, but goddamnit, Crysis 2 had better better run a million miles an hour!!

Console gamers will probably never understand pc gamers or our opinions, that's the sad fact. PC gamers typically like to push digital boundaries, console gamers just want to be fed the illusion that what they have is cool and cutting edge, and as long as millions of others agree thats fine for them.

Seriously, bro, you sound like a hipster. The next time you make fun of someone name-dropping some obscure indie band, pull out a copy of this thread that you printed and put into your wallet. Fed what illusion? If they're ignorant to mods, does that make them awful? I was seriously turned back on to PC gaming when I saw the myriad of awesome mods for Fallout 3, and that was only because I was living with a guy who was playing it on his PC. (Not much to do in Iraq...) How many other "stupid console users" have that sort of experience, much less seek it out?

As for "cool and cutting edge", I'd love to play the Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo series on my PC, but it ain't happening. I must not be cutting-edge enough... QQ

People might respect PC gamers opinion more if PC gamers were a little more RESPECTFUL. Most of the posts by PC gamers complaining have been downright rude and obnoxious. Calling a game **** ( as one poster did) because it doesn't melt your $600 gpu or doesn't have dx11 YET is not a way to get respect.

Are you trying to be funny? PC owners are on average very polite when compared to the average console gamers.

I saw "the official **** you crytek thread" on the PS 3 forum even if you didn't. They even encouraged pirating the game and posted ddl links to do it. hypocrits!!!!

Why don't you get your own house in order first?

I'm actually starting to think all these "console" gamers are really owners of the bare minimum spec hardware. Console gamers would already know about the thread I just mentioned and they are still complaining now. Surely they don't just all hang out in the pc forums?

PC Gamers are usually more respectful and thankful to developers than console gamers are. Do you need me to show you some threads where console gamers go totally nuts because they get a choppy framerate ?

The case here is a little different dude, Crysis 2 got all messed up just because of consoles, the PC community is mad because they (Crytek) made some promises and didn't kept them for example they promised Dx11 and its not there, they said the game will be superior from all angles but from the looks of it, its not even equal to Crysis 1, there are no advanced graphic options and we have to play with console commands to set the game right (I call it a game made in haste).

Even crappy console ported games do have advanced graphic options like texture filtering, world detail, shader detail etc, but what we got here ? just 3 cheap presets to choose from. The suit controls are also changed to create a more simple (console friendly) setup.

There is nothing in this game about which a PC gamer can get happy. And yes people who have Dx11 hardware will get upset because they promised this game to be Dx11 and then suddenly changed the statement just before release. Seriously consoles are too old now to keep up with the technology PC is offering. Crysis was one single game that made proper use of PC hardware but now Crysis 2 is another console compatible game. Just think what a console gamer will do if devs will develop a Dx7 game for his/her Dx9 hardware.

Aside from the Atari 2600, 7800, jaguar, colecovision, vectrex, C64 and all those other awesome consoles, I agree.

You've GOT to have that! Otherwise, it would never work.

It is like the Mac/Apple community saying Macs will out preform custom built PCs for gaming.

People are just ignorant and living in their own little world unable to see the truth outside what they know.

Why don't you get your own house in order first?

Both houses are mine because I bought the PC AND the XBOX versions. I guess that makes me more of a REAL gamer than all of you. A real gamer would play as many games, on as many platforms as possible. I never said console gamers are super polite because they're not. But console gamers don't pretend to be of some elite status like PC gamers to. Just because you you choose to dump THOUSANDS of dollars into your PC, that doesn't make you special. You put down console gamers like there's something evil about them. The fact is, console games are WAY more popular than PC games because they are way simpler to use. No driver updates, no upgrading hardware every 6-12 months and 90% of console games work right out of the box. No tweaking necessary. I agree PC games have better graphics (like this game) and have more in depth controls, but the fact of the matter is, they are often a pain to get work. Look at the Homefront PC forums, they're a mess right now.

If PC gamers are more mature and sophisticated, I'm not seeing it on these forums. Just look at the majority of posts in the PC version forum. They sound like they're written by animals, not mature people with expensive "rigs." And if you guys weren't so busy ranting, you'd realize that consoles are the best thing that ever happened to this game. Now Crytek can make some money on this one, and they'll have enough money to implement the lastest Direct X version on time for Crysis 3.

Already told you the reason why PC gamers are mad at Crytek if you read before posting. Also even if Crytek gets more money for Crysis 3, the fact remains same that console old hardware will limit the future PC version of Crysis.

Your way of thinking clearly indicates that you are a console gamer, a real PC gamer who owns a PC knows the fact that he does not dump THOUSANDS of dollars in his rig. Also it is console gamer mind set that we (PC Gamers) needs to update our hardware every 6-12 months while in actual we don't. So no dear you're not a REAL gamer because you dont have proper knowledge about PC Gaming and hardware.

Here is my basic configuration

Gigabyte P-35 DS3P Motherboard
Intel Q9550 2.83 GHz
Corsair XMS-2 4GB DDRII
Sapphire Radeon 4870

All this hardware is 2-3 years old and I still dont feel like upgrading because all my games run smooth at high settings. I was thinking about getting a Radeon 6870 before Crysis 2 launch but since they didn't made it Dx11 I dont feel like buying a Dx11 card when my 4870 can handle Crysis 2 well.

If console games are simpler to use then they are also the most limited games in gaming world. No better graphics, 30 frames limit, choppy gameplay, no modding community and no custom tweaking to set the game according to your needs. The problem is when a PC game makes its way to console, the console gamers get happy because they are still living in old technology so when they get a glimpse of something better they say WOW! like they are saying for Crysis 2 because they haven't seen any FPS like this before but when a game is consolodized it destroys the entire experience of PC gamer.
