The true value of a cap

Post » Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:02 pm

Since the beginning of my adventure in New Vegas i have had my hands on a abundance of caps. Even before i got into Vegas I had over 5 thousand caps. I think that they made a major flaw in this game when they started to pay to much for every weapon. I think that this makes the game a lot easier then it should be. Does anybody else feel this way?

Personally,id rather have New Vegas a nuclear wasteland with Vegas being a atomic ruin. But thats not gonna happen.Well, the caps, its because of ol' festus refillin the SS vendin machines!

No but really, its Vegas,of course theirs gonna be caps flying everywhere.

Yeah I agree, in F3 my maxed character would have 30k caps at most while on NV I can easily make 100k+ caps with a level 20+.

It's a wee bit silly.

Penguins.... I see penguins.

I've yet to run into a CRPG with a realistic barter system NV is no different.
I think it just boils down to realism vs ease of gameplay difficulty.. and gameplay wins out at the end.

If weight was rejigged, as well as prices and barter actually made to matter.
We would have less caps for most roles, but not everyone would want this.

A cap is worth 10 cent because Pre War Money is worth 10 caps. Pre War Money is 100 cent. 100/10=10

The problem is that you can scavenge/loot everything you will ever need. There's basically no money sink in the game. Ammo is plentiful, stimpacks are falling from the sky, radiation is scarce... Repairs could have been an issue in high level weapons but by then you will have Jury Rigging.

They should also make bartering "brutal". Merchants should charge an arm and a leg for a simple medicine (hey it's post-apocalypse). You shouldn't be able to sell everything to every merchant. Why does gun runners accept an ashtray when I'm bartering for a rifle? A simple street shop I can understand but those guys are supposed to be running a business.

I'm talking about if cents and stuff were in the game, and did you read and understand my post at all, it explains what I said.
And the smallest bill is 5 NCR Dollars which is worth 2 caps.

Nevermind, I didn't understand what you said, now I do.
A SS Star Cap is worth 1 cap, I bought if off a merchant, twice.

Then you have not been to Gun Runners yet. That 5,000 won't last you too long there. In fact, you will wish you had more caps when you go there.
