Did u get a new system or gpu for crysis1 release?

Post » Thu Apr 23, 2009 6:45 pm

When i was waiting for crysis1 to be released, I built my first rig that could hopefully play it.. I was on a tight budget of £300. Here is the low price rig i made:

asus pk5*** board £55
pentium core2 (dual 2.2ghz (about £50-60)
2gb OCZ ram (£30)
Sapphire Radeon HD3850(£90) - overclocked slightly (too much overclock causes objects to suddenly appear as you approach them in crysis)
Sata HDD (£60) (bought later)

and Crysis (£29.99))

The day i got crysis i prayed my system would run it, and it did, i found my optimal settings with a good framerate were:

Res 1024x768
AA off
Post processing high
shaders quality high
game effects high
everything else medium

On a few levels i can turn everything high and AAx2 without losing framerate although on levels with o lot of objects or long view range i go back to previous settings.
I think i did quite well for a budget gaming system.

I think for crysis2 i should upgrade my GPU, again i want to spend less than £100 on this. Can anyone recommend a good upgrade here.?

Anyone else want to tell what system they built and the optimal settings they got?

LOL. when crysis was eventually released, originally people were getting all hot and bothered a YEAR and HALF before it ending up coming out! thats the amount of delays we suffered from that game....hype after hype months turned into over a year from seeing videos and screenshots. Many many gamers got so sick at the time after it went on, partly because many were actually upgrading their pc's before there was even a true hint of the final game. there isn't as big as gap in graphics over existing game now with crysis 2 than there was at the time with the first game. this is optimized for "lesser" systems i.e. consoles, so it shouldn't be as much of a headache as the original was to people's gaming PC's now.

The System You Have Is Good But Maybe You Should Think About Changing To A: Core 2 Quad , 4 Gigs Of Ram And If Possible ATI HD 5xxx Card. If the Cost Is To High Then Maybe Try And Get The Card And 4Gigs If Possible. But Also Power Supply Is Important. That's Just My Opinion.

To be honest I doubt it'll take too much more than the original. Besides, I managed to run the old one and still can on the pc I have now. Sure, it wasn't in max graphics but it still looked nice. Gonna upgrade it soon though.

2.9 pentium D processor
4gb DDR2 ram
nvidia 9800gt

I do have to add, having a quad core isn't really necessary, it helps though.

I basically built my system for crysis 1. Granted I waited until it was acyually released before I did that.
Maximus Formula mobo
intel q6600 (now oced to 3.4 ghz)
8 gb ocz platinum ram
2x radeon 3870
plus a few extra toys I've thrown in over the years.

The system still stands up well to even the most recent games, and I'm pretty excited that the system requirement are reputedly going to be similar, it means I won't have to blow three grand on a new system!

I didn't build a new compy specifically for Crysis, but I happened to build a new computer around that time and decided to buy it and make it the first game the ran on my new rig. It was b-e-a-utiful.

Before Crysis came out I was sure my "awsome" gaming rig would play it on max (no AA tho):

Pentium 4 @ 3.6ghz
2gb DDR2
7800GTX sli
24" 1920x1200 monitor.

Then I tried the beta on high, and got 2-4fps. LOL.

Didnt really upgrade my rig untill recently, but it was basically built to play Crysis, Warhead, Wars, Crysis 2, etc.:

Core i7 920 @ 3.6ghz
12GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz
GTX 295 @ 600/1100/1300mhz
24" 1920x1200 monitor

Sooo! I had an entry level E-machine 2.6 or wuz it 2.8Ghz - 512 mb ram-on bd graphics, 80Gb H/D, as it came, outda box, when at that time i went with a mate to parts shop. Saw Crysis on Dem, thought hmm coool, My Mate ses I might need a bit more Ram, lol. anyhow purchased game with 2Gb of Ram coupla weeks later, allowed optimal settings, and got stuck in, no prob tell i reached endgame, so much going on it even froze a time or two, so armed with advice from modders an stuff i went to get a graph card, 1 GB Nvidia geforce, job done, Game Won, big Happy smiles all around, thats when I started Gaming.

I have an custom built AMD Phenom II x4 @ 2.6Ghz, a MSI GTX260 with 896MB DDR5 @ 16xQ AA; 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz OCZ RAM, all setting to VERY HIGH @ 1920x1080 Resultion - runs over 40fps and so smooth IDK what to do with myself. My Primary HDD is a 250GB SATAII @ 7200rpm and I am running WIndow 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I recommend you look into upgrading your rig to a quad core if you want to run anything coming down the pipe on ur PC and really enjoy it - 64-bit Win7 would be a big performance boost too over 32-bit anything.

I played my first Crysis playthrough on an 8400GS and thought it was awesome, I know realise that my eyes were in fact most likely bleeding at the time.

Yes I had my nephew build me a brand new pretty powerful system for CRYSIS 1 and last week I bought a brand new $3000 system from a highly rated Game PC maker for CRYSIS 2. My new system is Overclocked with 2 x GTX 480s in SLI. I would not have bought such a powerful system if it wasn't for CRYSIS 2. I even have them pre-loading , patching and game testing CRYSIS WARHEAD in my new rig.
The rig I bought for CRYSIS 1 is still pretty good and I did play through CRYSIS 1 with good details and good framerate.
