Melee... built my first actual melee character

MY unarmed build is probably the most fun ive had in the game. With the right techniques and character setup, even deathclaws are easily killed.

You meed a melee skill for close work. I have about 80 now, ramped up along with guns. I can smack a deathclaw a couple of times and he's dead. With Oh Baby that is. I often pick the one I want next, select him with the ratslayer or my silenced sniper then smack him when he arrives. Very efficient deathclaw destruction.

Oh Baby is, hands down, my favorite unique weapon in the entire fallout franchise, besides the shiskebab anyways

My unarmed/melee character was my favorite. I don't usually go for that style in games like this, but it was a blast. Wait till you get your hands on a Ballistic Fist. That weapon is a monster, and a lot of fun to use.

Oh and have the Tag! perk, and don't focus on all stats, just focus on 2 or 3, get them to 100 then, focus on 2 or 3 more later. Like, I raised Melee Weapons and Unarmed to 100 first, while raising Medicine on the way, then I focused on Guns, Lockpick, and Medicine, I got Medicine to 100 then Guns. Later, Energy Weapons, Lockpick and Barter, pretty soon, they will be 100. Then, when Dead Money came out, I maxed out Barter and Explosives. But you must be level 30-35 to have skills equal or close to mine. But make sure you make your INT 9 in Mitchell's house and take Educated at LVL 4 and then buy INT implant as soon as you can.

Ohhh i understand now, thanks for the help :-)

I dunno about the chain saw but the thermic lance is kinda pitiful. Spitz spitz and the deathclaw rips your head off. Smack smack, with Oh Baby, and he's dead.
