How do you know what tactics to use, stealth, assault ect...

I was just wondering what others did in situations when the expected tactics are unclear.

I seem to almost alway revert to stealth and sneak by, this gets kind of boring.

But every time I try to fight my way through the enemies seem to be never ending.

Multiplayer or singleplayer?

SP:

heavy depends on your difficulty. Tanking is easy in low difficulty (i played on 2nd diff). at Post Human (4th), Tanking can't be done because the enemies shoot accurately.

what tactics to use depends on how you use weapons and powers.

but in Cryis 2, there is only one correct tactic: modify everything, and then i mean EVERYTHING, to how you feel at that particular moment. adapt.

choose the suit modules that fit your style of play. choose your attachement according to how you play. use your suit powers according to how your play. that is the beauty and power of Crysis 2.

for the Single Player, the easiest way to semi-tank, is the HMG. powerful against all foes. you do need a proper armor module like deflection or armor enhance.

sneaking works, but only in some cases. Cloaking is mandatory in Post Human since you WILL be shot at and regaining health and energy all the time doesn't work nicely. use Cloak to relocate. pick a good spot. fire from there.

i use a DSG/Marshall (silenced) combo. i can cloak, pick out the enemies. i can armor up and get up close and personal, or i can stealth toward an enemy and blow his head off from 1 meter away.

it all depends on how you want to play. if it gets boring, think of a new approach, adjust your modules and attachements and go play, and change modules if they don't work the way you need them

For multiplayer, I recommend when your shooting a guy, ALWAYS switch on your armor mode as soon as you start shooting.
When your shooting a guy who just ran around a corner, turn on your stealth and follow that guy NOT by just turning the corner, but to walk AROUND the corner, because you should mostly always assume that guy will be camping around that corner OR will turn up his armor and turn around.

Just a quick note to add. As soon as you spawn, cloak and run, just in case you have spawn campers.

A few times in Wall Street I have spawned(game start) in the subway in front of the spear directly across from an enemy and had to be quick on the draw. Good way to get first blood points!
Have fun!

Well in MP I for the most parts cloak if i see an enemy that I know have seen me too, and as soon as i cloak i jump up on the closes high point so I'm able to flank him

So basicly i just cloak and jump over them and shoot them

MP: Switch to pistol. Find target. Start running at him at full tilt. Fire your pistol then melee. Boom you have smackdown. Repeat with with much fun and effectiveness(sliding encouraged) .
