Help with roleplaying?

Post » Sat May 02, 2009 12:37 pm

Okay so my charactor that im going to make is a lady who is snobby and hates combat so will be more a diplomat.
She came to the mojave from california to go to new vegas and try to win casino games so she could feel like a big shot,
but on her way there a bunch of children came and robbed her of all her caps, and she saw the town of primm nearby and saw an opening for a courier and thought it was a good way to make money and got shot in the head.
where do i go from here?

Well, I THINK going down the Mr. House path would suit your character, since his quests can avoid combat. Unless your character is proud of NCR. Or, if she's REALLY snobby, she might just work with Yes-Man.

Mr.House is a good choice if she likes luxury and is a high roller wanna-be.
I went for Mr.House on my diplomatic character.

try get to primm and kinda complain about the job before heading out to new vegas to win it big? Also trying to skip freeside and shoody looking places. Then prehaps joining House and sleep kill benny before betraying house cause you "want it all".

I agree with everyone here, I would side with Mr House also but you ARE going to have to combat. I would advise getting Raul to help you along, he's more into the Legion but he'll go with Yes Man easily. Lily is another good one, with a super mutant, you KNOW she's got brute strength, same with Veronica. Get your companions as fast as you can or you're gonna die! :sadvaultboy:

Also, get tons and tons of stealthboys with good sneak skills too boot.

Because it's her character and she's free to do as she wishes with it?

....soo...you also make a whole damn story with your character to when you play fallout. Seems kinda pointless. I just play the game for what it is.

Stick to the roads, get a companion early on.
Bump up speech and barter then look for the the non combat way as much as possible.

Also the point of a rpg.. you have the choice to act and do what you like.
If I want to be the Mad Hatter and pretend NV is Wonderland I can.. and roleplay tons of little ways to make this fit.
If I or you want to play the courier, not put any role into it, and just shoot stuff for fun and to raise skill levels we can..
Roleplaying games are what made NV possible, without them it'd be nothing but man shoots man with gun A.

Try it, it's fun. Make your OWN story, make that story adapt to the game (mines an ex assassin who lost his wife to khans, and no matter what wipes any that support them, even though he knows it won't bring her back, he supports house, afterwards takes a loan from house, makes a settlement, names it after her, dies alone but happy knowing he's going to join her)
It adds imagination and flavor to the game.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with playing a role in a roleplaying game. It makes the game more interesting and adds replay value.

Edit. And House sounds a pretty obvious faction choice for her.

Lots of people do this, and lots of people roleplay.

It doesn't matter, sometimes I roleplay and at others I just play.

It seems like NCR or House is best because you don't have to fight really often. Is your character ugly? If not I suggest the Black Widow perk. Legion is the WORST possible way. Basically with NCR and House, you can avoid a ton of combat if you just work on your speech skill too it's fullest.

Actually the character is left pretty blank so that you can fill it in (if that is your thing). It's a Role Playing Game after all.

This basically. Speech and Barter will be your bread and butter. Sneak would help you avoid combat as well. Second are things like science and lockpick as these tend to open up alternate paths which can be be used to avoid combat.
