Will the sandbox editor be on all three systems?

I was watching E3 today and heard mention of the sandbox editor. Can someone fully explain it for Crysis 2?

I am sorry to remind you of this but have you ever played farcry 2 well that had a console version of the map editor and it was very well created and easy to use so don't say ever it is possible! People are so closed minded seriously

I think the general consensus is not that the sandbox editor will be only available to consoles, but to really benefit to the full extent of the editor, a PC is the way to go. It however, has not yet been confirmed either way .

I think maps are much easier to create using a mouse/keyboard than a controller. You have greater control of placement and design.

Maybe they will put a mapmaker for the consoles, but the real Sandbox experience will be on PC. That is, IF anyone gets the Editor at all.

Yes Farcry2 did have by far the best and ONLY map editor for the 360, and I believe it is because of that editor that MS will not allow FPS or RPG map editors, it showed that when the public has acces to an editor that they basically go hogwild and almost complete nulfify the demand for DLC.

Im pretty sure Dragon Age orins was going to have an editor, but it came up against the rules of MS.

I could be wrong, I could be right. But a word of wisdom to the devs, MAP EDITORS WILL IMROVE SALES, and legendary status of games.

Ive spent over 80 hours on the farcry map editor with controlers, and yes it is pain but well worth it in the end.

2 of my best Farcry maps are "Third World Abandoned" and "MC Arena2" took about 40 hours each

I spent Well over 40 hours on a map in Far Cry 2 on PS3. The editing controls weren't bad, although I would agree with most people on here that its better with a mouse. If Crysis 2 has a built in sandbox editor it will probably be on all versions.

The Far Cry 2 map editor is completely different from the Sandbox Editor of Crysis. You can only create maps for Far Cry 2, the sandbox editor can be used to create complete mods, new campaigns, and a whole lot more.

The best use I could see for the Sandbox Editor to get some sort of connection with consoles is to make the PS3 version able to use mods, much like Unreal Tournament III. I know it's not perfect, but it wouldn't water down the sandbox editor and would at least let PS3 owners play new maps and mods.

Or they could just make a sandbox editor for PC and a simple map editor for consoles. It would be more work, but it would please just about everyone.

I honestly don't care, just as long as they release a fully functional version of CryEngine 3 for free, like UDK. I know it has been talked about, but I do not know if they actual came to a decision.

Well unless your willing to pay a pretty big fee you won't get your hands on Sandbox 3, stated by Crytek several times, it wont be a community free editor like in the past.

svcks big time but hey, what are you gonna do.

No word has been given on modding for C2 as of yet, we'll have to wait and see.

The editor is going to be on PC, it would be wrong not to include it with Crysis 2.

The sandbox editor is easier to use on PC, you can achieve alot of stuff. It's not impossible to add in a sandbox editor which is identical to the one on PC to the consoles, but it's better off on PC because it's what makes the PC exclusive.

Plus, I hate to do object placement with a game pad, I prefer a mouse and keyboard.

Plus, you get alot of stuff in the Sandbox, one of the most powerful tools in the sandbox editor is Flow Graphs, trackview editor, character editor (Although in part, since half it is buggy for me), and so much more.

It would be difficult to use these features if they came to consoles.

Also, remember, Far Cry 2's editor was dumbed down, the Sandbox editor hasn't been yet. I doubt we will get it dumbed down.

Wrong.

Explain all you want, there is a video with the Crytek staff demo'ing a look at the Crysis 2 Editor, and how it works in conjunction with the Editor on the PC in real time... Something like that ... Its on Gametrailers, go have a butch.

I would take a nice long guess and say that it's very likely that there will be an editor for the PC version. The chances for an editor on the consoles I would say 75% chance.

Yeah, I asked around at the Game developers conference if there would be a map editor on console and the demonstrators there are very hush hush about it. Btw, when people ask if there will be a sandbox on consoles, these people are ex-Far Cry players like me and we are O.K. with the idea of a "Dumbed down" editor and yes, we understand that Sandbox > map editor and the computer editing is > console editing but we don't care. If you had the amount of fun we had on Far Cry and FC2, you would agree. I have a feeling they are still thinking about what to do about the editor on console and are testing out ideas now. I am also pretty sure they see all these threads and are realizing how important it is to us. I predict map editor abilities on computer that you can port to console, but I am hoping for much more. Keep your fingers crossed.

An editor is meant to be used on a PC. It is very complex and I see no advantage to bring it to any console.

The pc editor ports all the made content to consoles. there is no console editor. Also, it would be impossible to use the sandbox editor with a controller. It's not just a simple map editor, its MUCH more than that.

have you look at the video on this link it give a glimp of some kind of editor and if pause at that part you will see that the pc version has alot more tools and accessabilty whereas the consoles have an aspect looking simalar to far cry 2 but i hope this is just a test demo because i love the far cry editors and would love to see more advanced creations just like the good old days when everyone played farrr cry preditor :)

He is Crytek Staff and does more about it. And you would have to pay a big fee for it since you are in need of the XBox360/PS3 SDK and that is and will not be included in a Standalone Editor/ ModSDK.

And no, you haven't read it in the news. It could have been in the comments. I must know it; I am Crymod''s News Lead.

Would love to get my hands on the Crysis 2SDK for PC if it was free, but i guess we will have to wait and see.

Sorry for false information.
