Thoughts on Campaign

Post » Thu Jun 04, 2009 1:28 am

I noticed that reviewers said that the single player mode was the weakest point of the game. I personally loved it from beginning to end. I was a little lost in the beginning, but I think that was intentional by Crytek because you are playing a marine who just woke up in the nanosuit. It was pretty cool piecing the story together chapter by chapter and when the final cutscene played out, I think I understood everything that had happened. Did anyone else enjoy the campaign a lot?

Weakest part of the game? This is easily one of my favorite campaigns Ive ever played in a FPS.
And I'm only like 3/5s the way through the story, so i have even more to look forward to.

Im honestly disappointed in the campaign. Reviews said it was a long campaign that took around 10 hours to beat. It only took me 5 hours. While the single player was good I wish it had been longer

I'm willing to bet that's an extreme exaggeration or an outright lie. Not even Halo 3 can be beaten with 4 player co-op in 5 hours and that's a much shorter campaign than Crysis 2.

Took me 8 hours to beat, however the in-game ticker - doesn't include times when you're replaying due to dying - so that's just under the 6 hours mark. Definitely not the "12 hour" campaign many websites posted, but it's still twice the length of other FPS out this year.

Who said the single player was the weakest part? Every review I saw said the single player was great with the exception of the bugs it had.

Overall, I liked it. I wish they made the ending more clear though instead of that piece of ambiguity we got. And the AI glitches dampened some of the joy for me. But overall, I think it was an excellent single player. Hope they can continue the trend in the next one.

Gametrailers gave the story a 7.8/10 in their breakdown. Gamespot and IGN also complain about bugs, the enemy A.I., and the slow story start. OPM also complained about the first half of the campaign being long and boring. I guess I can understand where they're coming from, but I enjoyed the entire campaign and didn't come across a lot of bugs that others found.

No I really did beat it n 5 hours and 32 minutes according to the campaign time tracker. One of the other posts does have a point though, it might not keep track of the time when you die and have to replay a section. Im still disappointed in the length though

I loved the campaign. Grabbing aliens by the neck and then tossing them into a wall is good fun. The campign was probably the longest I have seen in a very long time. I completed the campaign on easy because I am bad at the game. Still enjoyed it though.

The campaign was the strongest aspect of the game in my opinion.

Did IGN say the campaign was the weak point? Wouldn't surprise me if they did.
