I'm new to fallout 1 and was wondering what is the best way to kill Deathclaws? Especially the Mother Deathclaw!!!

With as much firepower as possible. Deathclaws are not time to skimp on the bullets, or Stimpacks.

Go into the inventory a lot and reload/Use a ton of stimpacks, then fire whatever you've got. Wait until you get to moderate to low HP and repeat.

Fallout 1? Eye shot with a plasma rifle.

Also, spend your AP points wisely. Sometimes you can spend them in just positioning yourself in areas that make the Deathclaw spend too many of their own AP points (you can even kinda cheat and leave the map sometimes. )

Cripple their legs, then shoot em in the eyes.

Use your AP's wisely. Make 1 shot per turn then get some distance between you and the Deathclaw.

Bah just show you Terrible Shotgun and they'll run away. Is there anything that gun can't handle?! I've just about killed every type of foe with it.

I (Playing on normal, anyway) think it is pretty easy to kill Death claws. I just shoot them once with a Dart Gun, then a few time with A3-21's Plasma Rifle.

If you haven't picked the perk that disables aimed shots, start aiming for its legs till its crippled. Then go for the eyes till its dead. Don't forget to use a powerful weapon with good range.

If you don't have much in the way of weapons use plasma based grenades if you have any for gods sake.(Will do splash damage and hurt a death claw even with a lousy throwing skill) (I always had ten Agility so this may not work for you) If you didn't have much in the way of decent guns like my first play through use the combat shotgun or your "One of a kind pistol cut down from a rifle" and aim for the eyes with a targeted shot. Either load a new area or walk as far away as you can. Rinse and repeat. During reload phases if you didn't need to heal before them instead of using action points to reload use them to open your inventory and reload there (Maybe even prep another weapon in the second slot for stand by, and administer all the stimpacks you need while your inventory is open. (Then run away as far as you can with your remaining AP)

The Mother death claw is pretty easy to abuse (though a real killer if you goof off) after getting in your few early targeted shots and she charges you (get to the stairwell and shoot her in the eyes and run back while in combat mode, if done correctly you didn't get hit at all and still dealt moderate damage to her. You can keep repeating this step though she will take awhile. Try to open combat mode to "pause the game" so she won't initiate combat first as soon as you walk down the stairway.
(I had to do this my first time though it was cheap it worked) I really do have to suggest that Rifle//pistol the farmer at the hub gives you, or a normal hunting rifle if you don't have any "End game" weapons yet

Well... if it's too difficult, gain a few levels while also becoming a brotherhood of steel initiate... then get back with power armor and power fist.

Oh.. and a maxed out unarmed skill with the appropriate traits and perks makes life easier when facing deathclaws or anything else the wasteland may bestow upon you. ^_^
